A fitting tribute to Steve Schnorf

* This privately funded memorial is now hanging outside the Governor’s Office of Management and Budget…

I miss that guy every day.

  4. An exemplar
    A public citizen
    May we always maintain
    What we received from him

  7. This just might have made him blush a bit, which didn’t happen all too often.

We had no idea this was happening. I got really emotional last night when I found out. It was such an incredibly kind thing to do. He would have been really touched.

  8. Great man and public servant.

  9. A great likeness of, and fitting tribute to, a wonderful public servant.

  10. Rauner would have had no use for a guy like Schnorf- he would have been a constant reminder of (Rauner air quotes)
‘Integrity’; ‘Trust’; ‘Empathy’; ‘Intelligence’…..in Rauner’s world,
Those things are weaknesses. Rauner would have to stand on the Sears tower to kiss Schnorf’s ***.

  11. We can use it as a verb and an adjective too, right?

    As in:

“Make Illinois Schorf again” and “Someone really needs to Schnorf DoIT.”

I was thinking upon the release of Rauner’s Top Six and Some Filler list how wonderous it was that we finally did pass a budget over Bruce’s objection. How heartbreaking it was he didn’t live to see that moment, but also how Schorf would probably be the least surprised of what went down or how it went down.

Rich, I know you have been down on state government lately, and that it seems like the bipartisan problem-solvers like Schnorf are getting fewer and further between. Those who remain are going to have to stretch themselves over the next several years to heave our ship of state back on course, as the population loss numbers attest. His memory inspires us and will hopefully inspire a new generation of leaders on both sides of the aisle.

  12. That’s a great tribute to a smart man with a great heart who really understood what the term “public servant” means. He is missed.

  13. I did not know him but I’m very impressed with the description of his life’s work.

A person described with that collection of character words and virtues seems extraordinary and a great example for all.

    A life well-lived.

  14. Such a wonderful tribute, beautiful words encapsulizing him, and allowing those who never met Schnorf who he was and the legacy he left, and the debt Illinois owes him.

  17. When in doubt best to ask one’s self, what would Steve Schnorf have done.

Thanks to whomever planned, and executed this.
