* Opinion: Rural cell phone network needs a boost
Illinois is fast becoming a wireless state. Cell phones are no longer just luxury items; they are a fundamental necessity to law enforcement, personal safety and commercial prosperity. And, of course, the need for reliable service is the same in our rural areas as it is in our big cities.

Toddler Stroger naming a connected official for some post is like saying “dog bites man”; that’s not newsworthy, just another tragic waste of county tax dollars.

I feel bad for the people of Pickneyville, but their theme park idea sounds like doomed desperation.
Why can’t the GOP find a social moderate to run in IL-8? Guns and abortion are the best issues for Dems out in these parts.

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning article is revealing in the nature of this governor. He pretends to be stupid when confronted by situations he can’t control, but then uses political power plays like a cold-hearted Chicago political boss. He charms and smiles in public, and butchers and guts opponents in private - nice guy, eh?
The root question regarding Mr. Blagojevich’s actions should be, “Who is getting the multi-million dollar deal here?” “What politically connected schmo is finally getting a return on his campaign contributions?” “How bad is the deal that it has to be dropped into laps after midnight?”
Just how stupid does he think we are?

There’s no good reason to make the state bail out CTA for one year while the rest of RTA is left to rot. Pass the sales tax increase. Leaving Metra to crumble is just as bad as leaving the CTA to rot.
