* Rauner campaign…

Today, Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti joined Scott Slocum on WJOL to discuss the success of passing a budget, increased K-12 education funding, and the Pritzker-Blagojevich TV ads the campaign is running.

Lt. Gov. Sanguinetti:

Emphasis added because I thought it was a particularly sharp line.

  1. What’s she gonna say if Trump commutes Rod, for being convicted for “typical politics” and the “deep state”

Didn’t Ole Slip and Sue email someone about a job in the Quinn Administration?

    Typical politics?

Comment by Oswego Willy Tuesday, Jun 12, 18 @ 2:17 pm

  2. Ah yes, and Bruce is squeaky clean. Ignoring the fact that the just gave a $70k a year job to someone who knows nothing about the subject, who just so happens to be known for harassing coworkers.

Compare that to working/talking with a governor who was corrupt, or to making a building he does not plan on using as a house was not considered a residence for tax purposes.

I agree it is a sharp line Rich, but I just don’t see any substance behind it. Not that that has ever mattered.

  3. Who?

Comment by Arsenal Tuesday, Jun 12, 18 @ 2:23 pm

  4. She going to end up tripping over that statement when Trump says essentially the same thing when he commutes Rod’s sentence.

    Comment by 47th Ward Tuesday, Jun 12, 18 @ 2:26 pm

  5. ==Well as you know we just released one of those FBI wire tap tapes==

Oh, *you* released, it huh? Hmm.

Comment by Arsenal Tuesday, Jun 12, 18 @ 2:31 pm

  6. ==But to Bruce Rauner and I, practicing politics means showing up to work every day and serving the people of our state.==

So practicing politics is their work.

Showing up to work everyday. Rauner’s not in charge and the Lt. Gov. has no work to do.

    Got it.

  7. –But to Bruce Rauner and I, practicing politics means showing up to work every day and serving the people of our state.–

To run up billions of unpaid bills and appoint Ken Dunkin.

Seriously, who would know if Sanguinetti showed up to work every day?

  8. -Seriously, who would know if Sanguinetti showed up to work every day?-

The workers’ comp claim department at CMS?

Comment by Arthur Andersen Tuesday, Jun 12, 18 @ 3:06 pm

  9. This enrages me
She has the gall to say they care?

    About the private social services?
    Over a million denied services

    About higher education?
72,000 college kids went to other schools

    About honoring state contracts?
Billions still owed. Billions in late fees/interest

    About Veterans?
14 dead from Legionaires (includes today)

    About local business?
1 Regional Econ development person per region
The former head of DCEO and founder of Intersect illinois Jim Schultz doesn’t even list his state service on his LinkedIn page

How dare you say you care.

    You care about
    Rivian
    Deloitte
    McKenzie
Any pinstripe patronage deal that lines the pocket of your boss
How did Bruce make so much money through investments while he has been in office
    How many millions a year.
    Blind trust my toochas

  10. To quote Bob Slydell on Office Space in regards to her as practice Governor: “What would you say, you do here?”

Comment by Alex Ander Tuesday, Jun 12, 18 @ 3:19 pm

  11. Honeybear—

    It’s McKinsey just an fyi

  12. For Rauner and Sangiunetti, showing up to work every day means the worst fiscal, economic and human crisis in state history. It’s ripping out toilets vs. fatal mismanagement and ripping apart lives. It’s willful damage, the refusal to agree to budget compromise offers and working with legislators to bring proposals across the finish line—not to mention hijacking the budget process with non-budget items in the first place.

Comment by Grandson of Man Tuesday, Jun 12, 18 @ 3:36 pm

  13. =and appoint Ken Dunkin.=

Not to mention the unelectable Mrs. Munger. What has she been up to lately?

For a while there, it had been so long since we heard anything out of Mrs. Sanguinetti I was thinking we may need to start checking car trunks for her.

Now that she has spoken, I wish she didn’t.

I really wonder how they actually see themselves, because by the polling most do not see them as they do.

Comment by JS Mill Tuesday, Jun 12, 18 @ 3:36 pm

  14. in or out, Blago is a topic that Rauner and lt. can exploit.

Comment by Amalia Tuesday, Jun 12, 18 @ 3:40 pm

  15. ==Oh, *you* released, it huh? Hmm.==
I was thinking the same thing. I thought the Tribune released it and it was in the public domain.

  16. Well, they finally let her speak… nice job Gov.

Yeah, somebody should follow up with the lt. gov. on that.

Comment by wordslinger Tuesday, Jun 12, 18 @ 4:19 pm

  18. If she played any role in any other aspect of state life, maybe she would be a credible messenger. I mean, she won’t even speak up for the migrants being threatened by Trump, pretty low-hanging fruit. Now she emerges and we’re supposed to take her seriously?

Comment by Albany Park Patriot Tuesday, Jun 12, 18 @ 4:25 pm

  19. JB is not sworn in so the can’t practice politics. you won on I’m not Quinn, now your running on I’m not JB

Comment by Rabid Tuesday, Jun 12, 18 @ 4:45 pm

  20. Funny as I honestly haven’t seen nor heard from her since inauguration day 2015. Has she shown up to work?

Comment by low level Tuesday, Jun 12, 18 @ 4:49 pm

  21. ==He came in not collecting pay for the work he’s been doing.==

There’s a supremely snarky observation longing to cast its long shadow on that statement.

For me, one of the marks of a good politician is that they can tread the long thin line between “too much detail/policy” and “nothing but forgettable generalities” when speaking to prospective voters/members of the public.

It’s a talent that needs to be cultivated, for sure; I don’t think our Lt. Gov. has been practicing much lately.

  25. Not sure why, but this article made me want to remember who Sanguinetti is. A Google search brought me to this:
