* I was trying to watch a music video on YouTube last night and this JB Pritzker “Karaoke” ad appeared…
I have the YouTube “premium” option, so I don’t see ads unless I’m not logged in and I wasn’t logged in last night for whatever reason.
* Here’s the longer version called “Important Questions.” It includes Juliana Stratton “beatboxing” and Pritzker talking about his “dad jokes”…
Yeah, not “serious” at all, but that second video has 744,861 views right now.
They also have another short and light video called “First Words.”
More “traditional” campaign videos released this week are here and here.

OneSon, who is 17 and watches a lot of youtube (all sorts of stuff) sees a ton of JB ads, sometimes when he pipes up ‘Great another JB ad’ or ‘hey JB’

That sounds like a lot.

When you have likable candidates…
Compare this to Bruce and Diana on the couch, yukking it up about Bruce’s shirt…
Look how relaxed JB and Juliana are, comfortable with who they are, in their own skin, being themselves.
If you think you have to work to be likable…
This is great campaign work here.

I saw it last night and it’s cute. Just what we need, a bazillionaire who can laugh at his running mate singing. That’s a great reason to vote for him. About as useful as “watchin” Bruce in his cycle gear on his hog. Election season is just so useless these days.

Someone should tell JB that “How Sweet it is to be Loved by You” is a Marvin Gaye song written by the classic Motown songwriters Holland Dozier and Holland. James Taylor did a watered down cover version.

Stratton is JB’s biggest non-monetary asset. He knows it, and this ad demonstrates a shrewdness to capitalize off of their partnership. Plus, they’re cute together, which makes the partnership seem believable. The viewer gets the impression that if elected, Gov. JB will take the time to listen to Juliana and will also let her take the lead on important projects. Likability matters - what’s they’re not to like about Stratton? JB’s unfavorables are clear at this point, so he needs ads like this that portray him as a relatable, if nerdy dad-like figure instead of another ruthless rich guy who wants to buy his way into office.

He has to be the most likable billionaire in the U.S., and she’s extremely charismatic. And they clearly get along well.
No substance, but the ads give an idea of the dynamics between the two, which seems worthwhile showcasing since it’s so positive.

JB is on IG as well, I’ve started to see a few spots when I am scrolling through.

‘Likability’ has real transferable value in the electability of a person. Some’s got it, Some’s Don’t. Guess who Don’t.

I was listening to Pandora and a JB add kept popping up.

Not the biggest fan of this kind of fluff. If it works, fine, but I need to see Pritzker get going on recreational marijuana legalization and criminal justice reform. That’s a huge industry, with the potential to pull in over $2 billion in sales revenue, with expanded MMJ.

This was what Bruce was trying to do with Beers with Bruce. His personality made it unable for him to pull off. People don’t want to vote for people they don’t like.

They have been dominating the facebook feeds with this ad in recent weeks. Good ad for social media.

I honestly don’t care how well JB can lay down beats. I care about the tax rates that JB wants to impose & on which brackets.

Grandson of Man, I bet you are a real blast at a party.

If you parse it deeper, JB is being cagey on the questions, more than he needs to be. He couldn’t actually tell one dad joke? It seemed a little too careful, too scripted, but I liked what they were trying for and Juliana seems genuine in it. JB could take some lessons from her.

Neither ad looks like it was scripted or rehearsed, both actors look completely relaxed and their words spoken naturally, they both look like they’re actually having a good time. So, what’s the over and under on how many takes it took to get this result - forty, fifty? It speaks volumes on the professionalism of the writers and director of the commercials - great job, guys. Similar to the look on Michael’s face when he realized it was Fredo who betrayed him, great acting and direction. Why do I believe this? Because I’ve seen JB speak extemporaneously, and it looks a lot different than in these commercials.
That being said, Rauner wouldn’t be able to pull this off with four hundred takes, the man couldn’t convincingly play a wooden Indian.
JB would do everyone a favor if he replaced Stratton right now so she could run for Mayor of Chicago, I bet she’d go to the top of the pack.

I’ve had several private convos with him, some of them long, and he talks mostly like he does in the videos. Everyone behaves a bit differently when the camera is on.

Pritzker is likable…and that’s a good indication of one’s personality in general…I believe most people would agree?…except, perhaps, those who are seemingly obsessive and less than likable themselves?

Good to know, thanks for that. Hey, did you happen to ask him about the details for his proposed progressive income tax? /s.

Say what you will, these ads are a boon to the GIF industry.

Cute. And not so staged that they wouldn’t have fixed JB’s tiny oopsie where he said he had “been to a lot of state fairs.”
AA’s youngsters really like JB. They’ll go Gaga over this.
Comment by Arthur Andersen Thursday, Sep 6, 18 @ 3:38 pm
Rauner couldn’t do this because it’d be an unhinged rant of him screaming “Madigan” until somebody just cuts off the camera.

I’ve seen him live, too, and he was pretty much just like this.
They’ve leaned in to the “Dad Joke” thing, and it works.

Anybody know JBs real name ??

I’ve seen “Karaoke” a few times. Great ad… it conveys the message that JB & Juliana are nice people. They are very unlikely to shut down the state and cost you career out of sheer spite and malice. Yes, likability, especially when it’s authentic is fair game.
