This morning, Governor Rauner spoke to employees at Piasa Motor Fuels in Hartford. He outlined his vision for the future of Illinois and why he is the right choice in November.
Take a look at some of Governor Rauner’s remarks:
“Every challenge we face can be overcome if our small businesses are growing and thriving and hiring more and being successful. We can overcome every challenge by helping small business become bigger business. That’s what I’m all about. I was never in public service. I helped companies just like Piasa start to grow. I was in the investment business for 32 years and I helped hundreds of companies like Piasa grow. That’s what I’m devoted to.”
He did indeed help hundreds of companies grow while he was in the private sector. I’m infinitely more interested now in what he’s done while holding public office.

Gee : For the last 32 years he helped Illinois businesses grow when he was in the private sector?? Really Bruce, private companies in Illinois grew over the last 3 decades?? Mmmmmm those 32 years happen to coincide with the Speaker’s rule.. I guess he isn’t such a corrupt failure.. #becausemadigan

Note:
The lone voice four years ago to vouch for Bruce… was Diana… who got Bruce to sign the most liberal pro-abortion bill a state passes, too liberal for California.
Bruce is also governor of Illinois.
Bruce’s term is a failure, “Worst Republican Governor in America” while also being the most vulnerable incumbent governor.
Rauner gave Illinois a whole General Assembly without a signed budget.
Governor Rauner isn’t about jobs. Governor Rauner is for ending prevailing wage, collective bargaining, and hurting anyone affiliated with unions.
That’s not helping jobs or companies.
Where o where are these people praising Rauner.
Pritzker had a whole ad on how he’s helped, and the CEOs were the ones talking.

It’s always someone else’s fault…
“That plant should have well over 1,000 people today. And that plant should have brought hundreds of millions of dollars today,” said Rauner in response to a question about the statement being a falsehood. “We had to basically cut a deal on the hope, on a gamble that it might work out. And it’s the best we could do and hopefully that will become successful someday. But that should be generating tax revenue already today and should be hugely successful over the last five years.” Rauner on Rivian May 2018.

Yes, your investments helped some companies grow. Others you just leveraged the heck out of. So spare us the idea that you were a “venture capitalist.” You weren’t. You were a private equity financial engineer. Not the same thing.

The governor’s actions have actually killed private sector jobs because of late payments to companies for services rendered to the State.

OW at 2 pm nails it. All during the last campaign Rauner was asked to name one of his companies that created jobs and he never once gave an answer.

Based on the business “principles” he used to “save our state”, I seriously don’t know how he succeeded in corporate management.

This reminds me of the old dodge on teaching. If I am a musician only and never have taught, I may be clueless to teach music. I could also be a teacher of music but have never really performed in professional setting, and could not play really play music for listeners at a gig.
Ruaner has it all mixed up. In 4 years almost he has not transferred the skills of his business background. The best can handle both pretty good but not everyone for sure.

While I can’t argue with factual part of this statement I also believe he chopped up and sold off quite a few companies along the way to killing them off. Much as he has done to Illinois.

Rauner fought wars that were lost before they started. He had ill intent and a low opinion of people. He thought he could break Democrats apart from unions by holding budgets hostage. He thought people with the same rights and self-interest as anyone else are corrupt caricatures—not seeing his rank hypocrisy—spending millions for political office and while being governor, to buy and control the ILGOP.
Now he’s worn out because his poll numbers are Madiganesque and his opponents didn’t roll over for him. He has zero reforms, because he wouldn’t accept compromises. Where’s the happy and energetic warrior from last year, when he was happiest he’d been in 20 years?

” I was never in public service” in one speech he bragged he was never even in student council—always thought he MIGHT have been a better governor if he was on a committee planning a high school dance. Would have picked up a few tips that he says he only learned in last few years.

He helped companies grow?? Maybe into extinction. I always thought he made his vast fortune by buying distressed bidnesses (for you 47th), squeezing the life and jobs out of them, and then throwing the empty carcasses to the side of the road.

Actually that was the TRS funds Rauner was using.
Rauner made millions while the TRS fund made a few lousy points.
