· Susannah Mendoza does not look out for Chicago residents, illegally collected millions of dollars in ticket fines and fees, voted for red light cameras that charge large fines and impact minority communities, voted for bills and is responsible for causing state budget crisis that saddled us with pension debt
· Chuy is now a typical politician, raised his own pay, endorsed mike Madigan, hasn’t even been sworn in and is already looking to trade up, voted to raise property taxes by $100 million, gamed the property tax system to reduce his own taxes by taking an illegal exemption, tried to balance the cook county govt on the backs of the peopleHead to head:

IMHO- This isn’t close unless Mendoza gets in.

West Sider, I can’t prove it, but I think it was Mendoza’s poll.

Hearing plenty of reports that Mendoza is making calls, asking pols, union officials, etc. to keep their powder dry until November — trying to keep Toni from solidifying support early.
Preckwinkle is unquestionably the front runner and seemingly a lock for the runoff. However, she could be softened up considerably if Mendoza and the others team up to hammer her on the pop tax. It’s easy to forget, but Toni’s polling numbers were at Todd Stroger-like levels this time last year.

I would love to see those head to head results broken down, but I’m surprised Chuy isn’t in there

Looks like it. If it were for someone else, the Mendoza negatives would’ve included Madigan and Burke.

I got called on this poll and I assumed it was Mendoza.

Toni is very weak because of soda tax and other negatives she’s never had to face down before, which is why she’s trying to cut deals everywhere with everyone (not very anti-machine like). This race is far from being set for anyone. It’s gonna be a long seven months.

Why is Preckwinkle “Toni” but all the men are called by their last names?
Comment by Anonymous Tuesday, Sep 25, 18 @ 11:37 am
Mendoza wouldn’t have to give up being Comptroller unless she won the Mayor’s race, correct?
Comment by Melido Perez Tuesday, Sep 25, 18 @ 11:55 am
That soda tax is going to get revived and it resonated across all demographics … the commercials are already written Toni better have a good response which cant be it was recinded.

Melido Perez, you are correct.

Very surprising that our intrepid sheriff, Tommie Dart, hasn’t said a word about running. He’s always harbored mayoral ambitions.

===Why is Preckwinkle “Toni” but all the men are called by their last names?===
Chuy is called above by his first (nick)name. Mendoza is called by her last name. Let’s chill; no need to seek out things to be outraged about. There’s plenty of offensive stuff for real.

These are quick notes taken by someone on the fly. Sheesh.

===Why is Preckwinkle “Toni” but===
Also, have you ever tried to type “Preckwinkle” fast several times? Not easy.
Comment by Rich Miller Tuesday, Sep 25, 18 @ 4:02 pm
If a guy named *Winderweedle* can change to something ENTIRELY FICTITIOUS- without significant whining, then Preckwinkle ought to get a pass on going by *Toni*.
