* Bernie…
State Sen. Sam McCann, running for governor under the Conservative Party banner, has taken to the airwaves with a commercial.
McCann, of Plainview, is seen driving a pickup truck on a two-lane highway and through an unpaved path through a farm field, as well as greeting voters.
“People are tired of being used,” McCann says in the ad, “tired of being promised by the Rauners and the Pritzkers that change is coming. […]
McCann said his campaign is spending about $275,000 for “a robust buy on downstate network and Chicagoland cable” stations.
$275K would be a “robust buy” in a state House race. It’s a tiny buy statewide. Not to mention that a pro-Rauner group just launched a $1.5 million TV ad campaign slamming McCann.
* Anyway, I think I posted this ad here when it was still a YouTube video…

=People are tired of being used=
Not McCann, apparently.

I could see that McCann is really going for the Chicago metro vote.
Kidding aside, I like the intro ad and want to see one where McCann rips Rauner for lying to conservatives and smearing Ives.

This makes the pro-Rauner ad buy all the more justifiable. If McCann is going to have a TV presence, it becomes snuffed out by brutal, negative ads that, in my opinion, are quite effective at leaving an impression.

I wonder if Sam will submit the mileage used in the ad for reimbursement. /s

Just curious why a candidate with a mileage reimbursement scandal hanging over his head would film and ad of him driving?
“Based on the 57.5 cents-per-mile federal mileage reimbursement rate, which McCann said he used to compute his costs, it meant he traveled more than 27,000 miles on public business during the last three months of the year, or more than 300 miles per day.”

I dunno if this will be worth anything… unless it follows the negative ad(s) against him… then it could help name ID.
Otherwise… just get the 5% Sam.

===Just curious why a candidate with a mileage reimbursement scandal hanging over his head would film and ad of him driving?===
Because 99.9% of the populace knows nothing about the “scandal”.

=Just curious why a candidate with a mileage reimbursement scandal hanging over his head would film and ad of him driving?=
Because he knows that his conservative audience is far more worked up about the betrayal of the Republican governor than a mileage dispute?

Just saw it on TV…it’s part political and part FORD ad.
I hope downstate votes for him to show Rauner how were sick of him.

Must be nice to be able to drive illegally. No front plate on the truck. Just saying!
