* Press release…

Today, the Pritzker campaign released a new TV ad, “One Illinois,” highlighting how JB has spent the campaign listening to and sharing his vision with Illinoisans across the state.

The ad features JB on one of his three statewide bus tours talking about his priorities for Illinois and how he’ll fight for working families as governor. Footage from campaign stops in 10 cities and towns across the state are represented throughout the one-minute ad.

* The ad

* Script…

Pritzker: I think the only way you can represent a state as diverse as this is to spend real time with people in every region.

Bloomington resident: It’s good to see you again here!

Pritzker: Thank you.

Peoria resident: It is so good to see you!

Pritzker: Governor Rauner wants to pit one area of the state against another. I think we’re one Illinois.

Belleville resident: I’m so glad to meet you!

Pritzker: The values that people have are the same. People are decent. They’re dedicated. They’re hardworking.

Pritzker, to Rockford Veteran: Thanks again for your service.

Pritzker: They want to get past all of the challenges and actually get something done.

Belvidere resident: I can’t tell you how much help we need.

* Raoul campaign…

Today, Democratic candidate Kwame Raoul released a new Chicago radio ad - “Every Voice Matters” - in which President Barack Obama explains why electing Raoul to be Illinois’ next attorney general is so important. When Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004, Raoul was appointed to fill his seat in the Illinois Senate, where he has served for the past 14 years. Obama has endorsed Raoul for attorney general.

* The ad

* Script…

“This is Barack Obama. When I was elected to the U.S. Senate, I was proud to see Kwame Raoul chosen to fill my seat in the state Senate. I couldn’t be more impressed with the work he’s done since, fighting for the issues we care about and the values we share.

“That’s why I support Kwame Raoul to be Illinois’ next attorney general. Kwame knows that healthcare isn’t a privilege; it’s a right. While I was in Washington fighting for the Affordable Care Act, he led the effort to expand healthcare coverage to every Illinoisan. He stood up for working families, for criminal justice reform, and for common-sense gun laws.

“Now that our progress is at stake, Kwame Raoul is precisely the attorney general we need. He’ll protect our healthcare, protect a woman’s right to choose, protect our environment, and protect our right to vote, because he believes that every voice matters.

“So let’s prove that our voices matter. This is Barack Obama, and I’m asking you to vote for Kwame Raoul for attorney general, November 6.”

…Adding… Rauner campaign…

This week, Governor Rauner has been travelling around the state on his “Our Home Our Fight” bus tour. Media has covered the tour as the governor has been “pushing hard for votes” and “focusing on his accomplishments” like record school funding and expanding the U of I.

  3. the Pritzker ad is an A. he’s comfortable and talking direct.
    the Rauol ad works for the radio audience for which it is intended, so it’s an A for that, but a B for me. tired of the Obama link.
    The Rauner piece is boring.

  4. That’s an excellent ad by JB.

  5. Smart ad by Pritzker. Reach out to voters all over the state. It paid off in the primary.

  6. I like the BLUE buses they are both driving.

  7. The Pritzker ad symbolizes its statewide campaign in every region - they have really tried to run a statewide race. The Kwame ad, while good, symbolizes its Cook County campaign that continues. They may win, but if its close its because they’ve run a Cook County campaign. Quinn 2014 comes to mind.

  8. One thing that really jumps out at me is that people apparently actually go to JB’s events. Bruce’s, not so much. The only significant group of people Rauner could get in his video seemed to be an event for something else that Rauner dropped in on. Not a good sign.

    Comment by Chris P. Bacon Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 11:33 am

  9. The Rauner video is barely produced. It’s a clip montage of newscasts with no driving message. Talk about phonin’ it in at the end.

    If that’s a closer, it’s Antonio Alfonseca.

    “Democratic candidate Kwame Raoul released a new Chicago radio ad”

    It doesn’t sound like they’re running it downstate.

    That dude could count to 12 without taking his shoes off.–

    Yes. One of the all-time great interviews on WSCR:

    Jesse Rogers noted that Alfonseca had six digits on each hand and asked, “were you born that way?”

  17. That “One Illinois” message was an incredibly appealing aspect of Ameya Pawar’s campaign. I’m glad JB picked it up.

  18. I am JB Pritzker and I am promising record new spending and a middle class tax cut but I won’t tell you what middle class is.

  19. ==I am JB Pritzker and I am promising record new spending and a middle class tax cut but I won’t tell you what middle class is.==

    If excess spending and vague fiscal policies were really your problem, you wouldn’t be voting for Bruce Rauner.

    Comment by Arsenal Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 2:30 pm

  20. Rauner wants to spend more than JB does? Vague fiscal policies?

    See Turnaround Agenda vs. the no change philosophy of Speaker Madigan.

    Completely ridiculous comment Arsenal

  21. “Lucky Pierre”

    It’s 5 days out.

    Nearly a million votes will be cast by the weekend.

    If you’re still talking nuance when Rauner refused to sign budgets, ran up $1 billion in interest debt, closed social service agencies, and nearly closed 3 state universities…

    … don’t be surprised that Rauner is the most vulnerable and worst Republican governor in America.

    You keep trying, but being underwater in approval and trailing your opponent… Rauner is in deep yogurt, but talk nuance.

    Comment by Oswego Willy Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 2:47 pm

  22. Rauner refused to sign unconstitutional, unbalanced budgets OW.

    JB is promising record spending all paid for by a magical progressive income tax for people like Governor Rauner and him. I bet it won’t be just people with hundreds of millions paying more.

    No doubt JB will do very well with the people who benefit from increasing the size and scope of state government

    Some Nuance

    Comment by Lucky Pierre Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 2:58 pm

  23. ===Rauner refused to sign unconstitutional, unbalanced budgets…===

    … and yet signed this last budget… which is seen as unbalanced, thus unconstitutional too.

    Keep trying. You’re failing as much as Rauner.

    Comment by Oswego Willy Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 3:03 pm

  24. I wanted this alone…

    ===Rauner refused to sign unconstitutional, unbalanced budgets…===

    … then Rauner is the sole reason for the stalemate.

    Thanks.

    Comment by Oswego Willy Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 3:04 pm

  25. I liked the Pritzker spot better the second time around. Very positive. Rauner pits downstate against Chicago, even though in his own words he got rich off of public employee pensions for decades, off of those Chicago Democrat corrupt machine unions, and he clouted his child into CPS.

    Comment by Grandson of Man Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 3:25 pm

  26. ==Completely ridiculous comment Arsenal==

    And yet, you can’t refute it, all you can do is point to an agenda Rauner isn’t running on and contrasting it to a guy who wasn’t even on my ballot.

    Rauner has been incredibly vague this election. All he has settled on is “JB is a bad man”. He wants a tax cut? OK, how much? How does he pay for it? How is it implemented? We have no idea, and you’re fine with that, you’re so fine with that that you’re trying to change the subject to an agenda Rauner has already abandoned. Because you’re a sycophant.

    Comment by Arsenal Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 4:18 pm

  27. Rauner has been vague and JB has been specific?

    Like how a graduated income tax would pay for his record spending or “investments” as he likes to call them and the middle class will get a tax cut?

    JB has been running on blaming Rauner alone for the budget crisis in Illinois that has been brewing for decades while ignoring the coequal legislatures failure to compromise and govern the state effectively.

    Comment by Lucky Pierre Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 5:33 pm

  28. This…

    ===JB has been running on blaming Rauner alone for the budget crisis===

    But this was the point before…

    ===Rauner refused to sign unconstitutional, unbalanced budgets…===

    Only a governor can veto, causing a crisis, and when these vetoes were trying to be overturn, Rauner bragged about Ken Dunkin.

    Sorry. Can’t claim the vetoes and say Rauner didn’t cause the crisis purposely.

    “Why?”

    “I’m frustrated too but taking steps to reform Illinois is more important than a short term budget stalemate”

    You keep forgetting these things.

    These 5 days, can’t come soon enough.

    Comment by Oswego Willy Thursday, Nov 1, 18 @ 5:39 pm

  29. Zen Manar pushed the School funding bill for 4 years. Rauner berries bills several times dealing w school funding. School funding got done In spite if Rauner. He should not take any credit for school funding.
