Democratic sweep.
Comment by Wensicia Tuesday, Nov 6, 18 @ 8:35 pm
Why is the nightmare over exactly?
Other than a tax increase will Democrats get behind any reforms?
What is their plan to stop the population loss and attract business to Illinois?
Other Democratic states have significant passed significant like Massachusetts- public employee health care, Rhode Island- pensions and California- term limits/ fair maps?
They have spent the past 4 years on the sidelines because they allow Mike Madigan to control the agenda and he is not a change person.
Mark Glennon said that means there’s little chance Illinois’ major problems will get solved.
“It’ll be a question of how much further we need to get to look like Detroit or Puerto Rico before people start demanding real reforms,” Glennon said. “And, by the way, this isn’t simply a … Democratic issue. There’s plenty of Republicans that bear blame here too.”
Illinois has among the highest taxes in the country, the largest unfunded pension liability and a credit rating that’s hovering a notch above junk status.
Did JB’s election suddenly wash these problems away?

Rauner has been rejected and apparently dragged down state wide Republicans with him. Does Pritzker have the answers? We don’t know yet until Pritzker has been in a few months. But it is clear that Rauner did not have the answers and was rejected by the voters of Illinois. Certainly with that big of a margin, Pritzker has a mandate. And I am sure the bloggers of Capital Fax will help him use his mandate wisely.

Hultgren and Roskam go down. My fears are being realized…
===- Oswego Willy - Monday, Nov 5, 18 @ 10:37 am
Here’s some perspective, as 2020 will bring a new Congressional map too.
Let’s say Hultgren goes down, and if Hultgren is lost, then Roskam is probably lost too…
In Cook, the Collars, all the way to Peoria… Adam Kinzinger will be the lone Republican in the US House.
Wow.
Hultgren’s possible loss puts into perspective of a geographical divide in Illinois where politics is also defined by geography.
Madigan goes veto-proof? Cullerton stays veto-proof, the Dems sweep the statewides, Kinzinger is the lone Northeast Illinois Republican in the US House, the Senate has two Democrats…
… Hultgren is the last wall of a GOP presence in the Cook/Collar traditional region.
And I need not worry… Uihlein, Proft, and Ives will make a rebirth of an ILGOP competitive?
Hultgren will be a lynch pin. Hultgren holding on might be the only shining moment for the state Raunerites.===
MJM isn’t veto proof yet…
Scary. The ILGOP… what will become of you?

Illinois 54 - Tom Morrison barely squeaking by with 400 votes. 3 precincts left to to count.
He’s gone from 10-20% wins to a barely 1% lead in a district designed for ruby red Republican wins.
If a Gov. JB can get a Minnesota style progressive tax passed and in turn lower middle class taxes… Morrison will have his hands full with Trump on the ballot in 2020.
Comment by Anono Tuesday, Nov 6, 18 @ 11:16 pm
Here’s what’s real… like “real-real”
Rauner crowed that MJM had a veto-proof majority in the 99th. That wasn’t true, by anyone with honest eyes, they’d agree, with Dunkin, Franks and Drury in that 71.
“And you know what?”
All three are gone.
Madigan won’t have 71/72/73 mushrooms to vote as he wishes… but he doesn’t have Drury, Franks, or Dunkin either.
