Ameya Pawar is a typical politician. Pawar has missed more than half his meetings as Alderman. One of the worst records in the City Council.
And when he did show up, Pawar voted for the largest property tax hike in Chicago history. But Melissa Conyears-Ervin shows up for us every day.
As State Rep, Melissa protected child care for Chicago families. Her plan will make the Treasurer’s Office more independent from politicians. And ensure we invest in every Chicago neighborhood, not just downtown.
Secretary of State Jesse White: She’s ready for this.
Melissa Conyears-Ervin: Oh, you bet I am.
Announcer: Melissa Conyears-Ervin for Treasurer.
She won the first round 44-42.
Her contributions have been picking up lately. and you gotta figure that at least some of those Toni Preckwinkle backers will be switching their cash over to Rep. Conyears-Ervin.

Great ad, highlights Pawar’s absences and love of higher taxes.

Some of us are tired of misleading attack ads and disingenuous self-promoting.
It’s gets a D from me, though I’m wouldn’t blame casual observers or Conyears-Ervin supporters for grading it higher.

This is a very well done ad. One hard swipe, and then makes a case for herself. It ain’t glitzy, but it very effectively and efficiently gets the job done.

Great ad. Excellent graphics. Simple and direct—and there’s Jesse White at the end, the pol who got the most votes in the last election.

Her ad effectively uses the “typical politician” theme in an election year where “typical politicians” are not particularly popular. I give it a B+

Jesse White in the ad? A+

Trash your opponent as a no-show career politician, give reasons to vote for you, feel good words/images, references to (apparently) detailed policy proposals - a lot of good stuff packed into a small space. Jesse White plus her energetic reply to him is the cherry on top. A-

On rare occasions I see Pawar walking through the lobby of City Hall. He walks in a very exaggerated manner with his shoulders elavated and is nose in the air. It seems like he wants to project an image of greatness and a quasi deity.

This ad reminds me of this quote about Joe Berrios
https://www.chicagoreader.com/Bleader/archives/2008/01/25/the-best-election-pitch-yet
Cook County Democratic Party chairman Joe Berrios is in a tough battle for reelection to the county Board of Review, which hears property tax appeals. Here’s how an ally explained why he deserves to keep his $100,000 post: “Joe really works at that job. He’s in at 9 and stays till 5.”

Solid B. Only nits would be not mixing messages in the same ad, and perhaps not saying you’ll make the office more independent from politicians followed by “hey, here’s an entrenched politician!” even though Jesse is popular.

Watched it with the sound off, looked good and Love seeing Secretary White at the end.

Was curious to see Pawar try to grant ownership of all the water in the Great Lakes to Chicago.

A-, she packs a punch to Pawar and ends it positively with a nice shot of her and Jesse White. Think that double whammy moves numbers a bit.

Pawar is the progressive. He’s a very nice and smart guy, but some of his ideas loopy for a city.

Pawar was head of a poverty task force recently. His recommendation (among many)? Give away money, no strings attached, to those below a certain income threshold.
That may appeal to some, but is bad public policy imo. You could do much more providing day care and transit for more people than outright hand outs.
Im voting for Melissa

Well done ad. It’s tough to balance effective negative/positive punches in a single spot, but her ad team did it.
