Comments

  1. Chaos!

Comment by Smalls Monday, May 13, 19 @ 3:20 pm

  2. Denial, anger, bargaining and depression.

Some stuff gets done, like marijuana, sports gaming and the FY20 budget. The tax amendment and capital bill go to OT, where both will be approved before July 4th, which might be celebrated as Acceptance Day in Springfield.

    Comment by 47th Ward Monday, May 13, 19 @ 3:23 pm

  3. Various safe non controversial items passed or failed. All controversial items kept under wraps and voted on beginning at 6PM the last possible day that is needed to get them thru both houses.

Comment by thoughts matter Monday, May 13, 19 @ 3:24 pm

  4. Several cancelled sessions and a capital bill at the very end

Comment by Jvslp Monday, May 13, 19 @ 3:24 pm

  5. “Prediction? Pain…”

Comment by IlliniSpartan Monday, May 13, 19 @ 3:27 pm

  6. The Latino caucus holds firm and stops a thing or two. The Lt. Governor gets the census from Secretary of State. Marijuana doesn’t pass. Governor Pritzker ends up battered. Major staff shifts in the summer.

Comment by IlliniChamp Monday, May 13, 19 @ 3:37 pm

  7. I have noticed even people who claim everything is predestined, and that we can do nothing to change it, look before they cross the road. - Stephen Hawking

Comment by Dotnonymous Monday, May 13, 19 @ 3:39 pm

  8. A few surprises but Pritzker will get a lot done. What the surprises will be is anyone’s guess.

Comment by Steve Monday, May 13, 19 @ 3:41 pm

  9. OT on Capital Bill and Progressive Tax amendment.

No gaming, budget passes on time, marijuana passes ON the 31st.

Comment by Oswego Willy Monday, May 13, 19 @ 3:42 pm

  10. Many constituents will bellyache online without once contacting their legislators office to tell them how they want them to vote.

Comment by XonXoff Monday, May 13, 19 @ 3:42 pm

  11. Agree with Oswego Willy on all but maybe the progressive tax. I can see Pritzker pushing hard to get it passed with the budget to make it seem like a more solid victory than it would if he needs to whip votes for an extra week.

Comment by OutOfState Monday, May 13, 19 @ 3:55 pm

  12. I would think Pritzker’s crew would insist on a graduated income tax vote before a capitol bill.

I’d also think the new governor might understand better than the last guy the usefulness of his suite of veto powers as well.

Comment by wordslinger Monday, May 13, 19 @ 3:59 pm

  13. Amendment passes but not much else.

Comment by DuPage Bard Monday, May 13, 19 @ 4:08 pm

  14. The weed bill will go up on smoke

Comment by Donnie Elgin Monday, May 13, 19 @ 4:09 pm

  15. Worried about the kindergarten age change bill 2075 still. It looks like the education committee skipped on voting on the bill though and it has been re-referred to the rules committee. Isn’t that where bills normally go to die?

Comment by Seats Monday, May 13, 19 @ 4:12 pm

  16. Sturm und Drang

Comment by RNUG Monday, May 13, 19 @ 4:18 pm

  17. Pain, wonderment, confusion, anger, relief. Same as it ever was.

Comment by walker Monday, May 13, 19 @ 4:20 pm

  18. We will get out on time.

Comment by Obamas Puppy Monday, May 13, 19 @ 4:21 pm

  19. At least one of the big pieces will fall out. Which one, I don’t know, but something ain’t going to make it across the finish line. I agree that the capital bill and the Fair Tax get tied together.

Comment by Montrose Monday, May 13, 19 @ 4:28 pm

  20. Whatever Priztker proposes, Republicans will complain about it.

    Comment by A 400lb. Guy on a bed Monday, May 13, 19 @ 4:33 pm

  21. Same as before -
“Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!” /s

Comment by Smitty Irving Monday, May 13, 19 @ 4:36 pm

  22. I think (hope) we pass the Marijuana bill so that we can increase freedom, revenues, and social justice. It should get done.

I have almost no hope for the income tax.

Comment by Progressive Guy Monday, May 13, 19 @ 4:39 pm

  23. Overtime. At least the infrastructure package.

Comment by TransitGuy Monday, May 13, 19 @ 4:42 pm

  24. Sports betting and budget pass. Cannabis too soon to tell, but I think not. Tax and Capital plan in OT or Veto. Agree Pritzker comes out a bit worse for wear.

Comment by Nova Monday, May 13, 19 @ 4:46 pm

  25. Cannabis bill will pass if Pritzker plays hardball politics. If not, it is a toss up. Home grow will probably not pass. I hope I am wrong.

Comment by Illinois Resident Monday, May 13, 19 @ 5:23 pm

  26. More chaos. More games. That’s all these guys do good.

Comment by Tim Monday, May 13, 19 @ 6:33 pm

  27. Progressive state income tax and Capital bill pass. Cannabis remains decriminalized but not legal except for medical purposes. Sports gambling bill is too weighted down and sinks.

Comment by Enviro Monday, May 13, 19 @ 7:41 pm

  28. White Sox will be playing .500 ball by then.

Oh wait–you meant the legislative session? I’m not as optimistic about that.

Comment by Responsa Monday, May 13, 19 @ 7:54 pm

  29. @XonXoff

Some constituents call their elected officials hoping for a response on badly-needed legislation to make headway, receive no response, and then proceed to bellyaching online.

Comment by It Doesn’t Have to Be This Way Monday, May 13, 19 @ 9:17 pm

  30. Many drinks will be served for the next 17 days

Comment by the good ole days Monday, May 13, 19 @ 10:35 pm

  31. – Some constituents call their elected officials hoping for a response on badly-needed legislation to make headway, receive no response, and then proceed to bellyaching online. –

With zero response that’s fair, IMHO. Much better than doing nothing and watching it play out.
