* DCCC…
The DCCC today launched a new ad campaign in Illinois’ 6th District highlighting Jeanne Ives’ lockstep support for President Trump and his reckless agenda that would keep dangerous guns on our streets, eliminate a woman’s right to choose, and discriminate against the LGBTQ community.
As a firebrand conservative, Ives is out of touch with voters in the 6th District, refusing to support commonsense measures to keep dangerous guns out of the hands of criminals, opposing a woman’s right to choose, and discriminating against same-sex couples.
“Conservative politician Jeanne Ives supports President Trump 100% and is wildly to the right of the 6th District,” said DCCC spokesperson Mike Gwin. “From backing President Trump on opposing a woman’s right to choose, to rejecting commonsense gun safety laws, and discriminating against the LGBTQ community, we’re going to make sure voters in the 6th District know that Jeanne Ives is just too conservative for Illinois.”
The ad begins running today, targeting moderate and conservative voters in the 6th District, and will run on digital platforms including Facebook.
* Evelyn Sanguinetti press release…
Today, the Chicago Sun-Times published a story explaining how Nancy Pelosi, Sean Casten and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee are spending money to help Evelyn Sanguinetti’s primary opponent so they don’t have to face the stronger Sanguinetti in the general election.
Word out of DC is Sanguinetti beats Casten in a head-to-head informed ballot by more than 5%. DCCC will do anything they can to avoid Evelyn - even buy ads to support her primary opponent. Jeanne Ives is the Democrats’ favorite Republican in this race because she is wholly unelectable in the general election, and would force other Republican candidates around the country to answer for the outlandish things she has said.
* Sun-Times…
Kathleen Murphy, an Ives spokesman, told the Sun-Times, that the DCCC is “sorely miscalculating what this race is going to be, then. Nothing we’ve seen indicates that Jeanne would be easier to beat than Evelyn Sanguinetti. That would be a serious miscalculation on their part.” […]
The DCCC ad is taking a cue from the Democratic Governors Association playbook. Before the March 2018 Illinois primary, the DGA ran an ad highlighting Ives’ conservative credentials in an attempt to defeat Rauner, who won with 51 percent of the vote.
* The ad links to a Sun-Times column about how Ives is unelectable…
* The kicker…
The DGA spent quite a bit of money to push Ives over Rauner during the 2018 Republican primary. We’re not seeing that level of commitment out of the DCCC yet, but one never knows, I suppose.

Love, love, love this.
Any chance to knock out Slip and Sue and Ives, in any order to do so… I’m all about it.
To get the party back from Trumpkins and Raunerites… both need to lose and then disappear.

And what specific “Word out of DC is Sanguinetti beats Casten in a head-to-head informed ballot by more than 5%.” is the Sanguinetti team talking about? Polling? Prominent endorsements? If there is real polling, which has been taking place in IL-06, why not release this polling with supporting data so all of us can take a look at it.
The way this ad reads, it looks like the Democrats are trying to push voters away from Ives, not push them towards her.
Oh well, it is late August, and not many people are paying attention to it.

===Word out of DC===
Ole Slip and Sue is playin’ the…
“People are sayin’”
Yeah, NO one is saying. Not a soul.
If you want a Raunerite in DC, a person who “magically” was hired by Rauner, after being a Wheaton trustee, and sought work in the Pat Quinn Administration…
Word around Illinois, last election, Raunerism was soundly defeated.

Door is open for Jeanne’s sham candidates

===Jeanne Ives is the Democrats’ favorite Republican in this race===
No.
Ives is the Republican favorite in this race wholly to first defeat a Raunerite, then have Ives implode and with a new map, a new Republican outlook, Illinois’ Republican Party can hope to rebuild in the suburbs.
But, Slip and Sue knows that. Magically, she thinks others will forget.

If the DCCC is trying to tip the scale for Ives, they need to do better with their ultra-conservative dog whistling. I can’t tell if they are trying to help Ives or Sanguinetti win.

Everyone wants a piece of the 2020 landslide that’s coming in Illinois, and maybe the country. Can’t we throw Senger in there too?

I keep hoping a liberal Republican will enter the primary. Otherwise I am backing Casten.

This is what the MO Democrats did in the GOP primary in Claire McCaskill’s last successful race, saying Todd Aiken was “too conservative” for Missouri. Which, of course, pushed all the conservatives to shoo in Aikin–the one who said women’s bodies had a way to “shut down” pregnancies that were the result of “legitimate rape.”

I’m really looking forward to the Ives Sanguinetti debates or forums as they’ll be called. Plus the newspaper endorsement sessions and WTTW candidate deal they alway do on Chicago Tonight.
Jeanne is ultra abrasive and she does her homework. Evelyn is the posterchild for don’t let the candidate speak. Never saw her last few months of Govs race nor was there anytime Evelyn and Juliana went toe to toe.
This may be the best race to watch, entertainment wise, in the state.

I watched the two of them on Mike Flannery’s show on the local Fox channel in Chicago and Sanguinetti seems like a disaster if she can’t stick to her talking points.
She talked about how she lowered taxes through her work on consolidation, Flannery kept asking her for specifics on this, and she stumbled her way through a word salad of a non-answer.

Ives is formidable. Awful, but formidable. The DCCC should take a look at the Ives-Rauner Tribune debate before trying to engineer her victory in the primary.
McCaskill did this successfully. Pat Quinn tried to do the same thing by pushing Rauner in the GOP primary. Look how that turned out.
