* We’ve discussed this issue before. Mayor Lightfoot hasn’t yet filled in state legislators about what she wants in the fast-approaching veto session. Here’s Team Tribune…
State Rep. Mike Zalewski, a Riverside Democrat who chairs the House Revenue Committee, said Lightfoot has “been pretty forthright and honest about the challenges she faces.” Nevertheless, lawmakers don’t want to wait until her budget speech to find out what she wants from Springfield, Zalewski said. […]
“Something that everyone will have to take into consideration is just what the appetite is for more major actions,” said House Democratic leader Greg Harris of Chicago. Harris said he hasn’t met with the mayor’s office or seen any specific requests. […]
Senate Republican leader Bill Brady hasn’t heard from Lightfoot’s office about proposals that would help address Chicago’s budget deficit, spokesman Jason Gerwig said Wednesday. […]
“The governor wants every city in Illinois to succeed, and he is committed to helping them thrive,” Bittner said in a statement. “The administration continues to have productive conversations with the mayor’s office, and we are hopeful that her requests will receive a warm welcome in the General Assembly.”
Part of the problem here is that the mayor hasn’t yet settled on what she wants.

Is it that she didn’t think she would win and was unprepared?Or she thought she could get something she couldn’t and was unprepared when she found out she couldn’t? Or she found out new problems and was unprepared? Or just unprepared?

===Part of the problem here is that the mayor hasn’t yet settled on what she wants.===
The clueless crew of Mayor Lightfoot.
It’s a trainwreck to the politics and the governing that it appears the Lightfoot Crew and Lightfoot herself have no idea how to go about getting… what they don’t even know what they want.
Yikes.
The best thing everyone outside Lightfoot and her Crew has done is leave them hung out to dry with…
“When you know what you want, we’ll be here, but we ain’t gonna be doing the lift for ya”
That is exactly right.
Figure it out. Get back to everyone. How you’re going about your business isn’t helping and isn’t at all smart to get 60/71 30/36 and a signature.
Nope

Donnie Elgin: wrong Zalewski, wrong government building. Don’t believe the state rep is under a cloud.

===Like father like son===
(Sigh)
On Friday it was “cousins” that you have to worry about.
No. Blaming or thinking “it runs in a family” nonsenses is not only bad form, but lacks class.
No one has been indicted that has been raided. We have no idea what the feds were seeking, and no son or daughter should be linked by lineage on any thoughts.

= The Statehouse doors don’t open by themselves =
They do if you push that button.
Oh, wait. You mean…

That’s comedy gold right there.
Does Lightfoot have a legislative staff yet, or is she still relying on the volunteers she recruited back in April?
I don’t see how she gets more $ from Springfield while she has bricks on elected school board, CTU contract and homeless funding.
Anyone?

The political savoir faire of the Lightfoot team leaves much to be desired. I realize that this is what you get with a first time pol, but its been hard for me to fathom how bad it is. The pension pick-up gaffe was pretty glaring, and not having a definite ask list - let alone a few legilators lined up to serve as the face for a Chicago packaga - for the veto session is practically a sin.

==The governor wants every city in Illinois to succeed==
While unfortunately, many cities want to secede.

Those must be some itty bitty cities.
