Feds asked for a 60-day delay in Arroyo indictment

JUST IN: Prosecutors have asked for a 60-day extension to indict ex-state Rep. Luis Arroyo, citing “certain factors.” Those factors need to be explained under seal “so as not to compromise its ongoing investigation and not to reveal matters occurring before the Grand Jury.”

Perhaps he’s trying to talk his way out of it?

  1. This is very interesting. What it means is anyone’s guess. Sounds like a complex case .

  2. If by talk his way out of it you mean flip on his cohorts then I would agree. He appears to have had his fingers in many juicy pies.

  3. I think they did the same for Burke. My somewhat educated guess is that laying out everything on Arroyo right now would force them to lay out some things on others that are not quite ripe yet. Mark your calendars for mid January.

  4. Sounds like Arroyo has a story to tell…and the feds want to hear it.

  6. Arroyo is the reason there won’t be a Chicago casino in the near future.

  7. That goofy Facebook meme *now* might be Arroyo “singing” and turning on others?

Better not be lying to the feds now.

You might be right. But, no one really knows what’s going on, and whether other people close to the gambling issue will be indicted.

  11. When this happens one typical reason is the facts set out in a formal indictment implicate individuals and matters still under investigation and the feds are not ready to go public. It doesn’t necessarily mean a defendant is cooperating

  15. How hard can this be?
It appears he wrote a check to bribe someone.
What value as a witness could someone who acts like an idiot have?
Let’s start throwing these folks in prison. If he cooperates he could have a really nice tale to tell at his parole hearing.
