So DePaul is the Illinois men’s basketball team to beat this year. That’s a good thing.

Another candidate for U.S. Senate emerges. Former IL-14 Republican candidate Danny Malouf of Woodstock to run for Senate on the Libertarian ticket:

I’d still put the Illini ahead of Depaul, but I am an Illinois homer. Depaul has a couple very nice wins. It’s certainly nice to see them back in the basketball discussion again (the Illini too as far as that goes).

Which Illini team shows up tonight in Madison?
The one who just took Purdue to the woodshed or the one who found a way to make Mizzou look like a Final Four team?
And Madison is where a lot of good teams go to have clunker.

I dunno if I was, or wasn’t, surprised Joe Walsh didn’t get on the ballot for President. I do know looking at his old “district” now, what a indicator how things have changed in the suburbs looking at that one district and its politics, and focusing on Walsh then and now through that district.

Just want to express the disappointment State employees are suffering from due to our computers being So slow. It is difficult to get anything done. Hope DoIt! Can get this fixed. It has been an issue for months but getting worse not better.
Healthcare & Family Services is effected at multiple locations. Are other agency staff sharing the poor experience?

I’m looking for a close game with Wisky tonight. I think it’s a typical Big Ten road game for the Illini. Wisky shoots 30 free throws, Illini shoot 10. In the end, Wisky covers the 4.5 spread.

Funny you should say that about Walsh. He complained how Wisconsin cancelled their primary, and Sean Casten tweeted that’s how Republicans can win nonsense.
Well, if Walsh couldn’t get on the ballot in home state Illinois’ primary, which cannot be cancelled, what chance does Walsh have to get on the ballot in WI or any other state that doesn’t cancel their primary.
His excuse was pretty lame from Friday when it was clear he wasn’t going to file.
Curious whose 14th district candidate’s sign will be in his yard.

College basketball is better when DePaul is in the mix. The DePaul-Marquette rivalry needs some hot sauce.

DePaul is 3-0 vs. the Big 10 this year, including two road wins.

After the success of Loyola, DePaul needed to show they can get it done, as as great as The Valley is as a basketball conference, it’s not the Big East and DePaul, right now, is fun to watch too.

Would love to return to the days of DePaul and the Illini being tourney teams.
Other than Illinois being the fertile recruiting grounds for Duke, Kentucky and the all of the B1G, there is no excuse for the lack of college level success each year from the teams in Illinois.
Other than Loyola’s recent miracle run to the Final Four, the state has been really down.

Anyone catch this tidbit in Politico’s Illinois Playbook this morning about the potential post-census loss of congressional seats by Illinois and other states?:
“Consider Montana, which doesn’t know if it will lose a seat — and it’s 2,000 residents away from doing so.”
Um, no. Montana has only one seat right now, which they get to keep no matter what. It’s in the constitution.

Assuming Reed stays, DePaul should take a step forward next year. Wintrust is a nice place to play their games. Parking a little expensive but nice amenities with decent bars and restaurants close by.

Telly,
I like politico, for only their national coverage. Their state level stuff however, imho, is lacking.

Rumor has it computer delays are Windows10 upgrade related. Hopefully things will return to normal sooner than later. It has been like a trip through time to the 1990s before we got Pentium chip computers. Where is my IBM Selectric and 10 key adding machine?

=I dunno if I was, or wasn’t, surprised Joe Walsh didn’t get on the ballot for President.=
Walsh is nothing if not an opportunist. I actually remember way back in 1996 when he ran as a “moderate” in favor of abortion rights and gun control. I think we’re on the 3rd or 4th iteration of Joe Walsh. But I give him credit for at least realizing that the Trump brand will ultimately be the undoing of the Republican party particularly in Illinois. This is all about positioning for the unveiling of the “new” Joe (and/or Helene) Walsh.
Comment by Pundent Wednesday, Jan 8, 20 @ 11:36 am
Pundent, you are assuming there is still a Republican Party left in Illinois.

I think you’re on why I was so confused as to why i was either surprised or not;
=== This is all about positioning for the unveiling of the “new” Joe (and/or Helene) Walsh.===
And to that, and your comment is tasty good too, the vacuum of what will be left to any recognizable Republican Party here in Illinois is susceptible to the crazies like Walsh as they look to grift and make their own way off folks looking at at post Rauner/Trump GOP and see despair.

To the IBM Selectric and adding machine post (Al at 11:01 am): Win10 may sink DoIT; it can’t run on the many obsolete desktops the State has, far less run well on the low-end machines the State likely bought. Complaints and downtime will soar.

Anyone know if the legislature intends to revisit the exorbitant increase in trailer registration fees? On January 1, the small trailer fee (3000 lb. gross, class A) went from $18 to $118, while the next two classes (B & C) went from $54 and $58 to $154 and $158 respectively. That puts the registration fees for a B or C trailer, higher than for the vehicle that tows them. Mike Murphy, my representative, has not answered my e-mail concerning this issue. I may try Tim Butler.

I have no doubt that vultures and opportunists will be circling to pick over the bones of what’s left. That’s the specialty of Joe Walsh. I can hardly wait to see the new and improved version of Joe Walsh.
