* I’m giving a speech at noon and then I have some errands to run. Please be nice to each other and keep the conversation Illinois-centric. Thanks.

Anyone else think the Bloomberg ad at the top of the page is creepy in a big brother is watching you kind of way?

Yesterday was another indictment of the Bears’ inability to select or sign a great quarterback. Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs from the great state of Kansas (snark), and to coach Andy Reid, who finally has a championship.

It’s been exciting watching Illini basketball. Like to see them make a run in the B1G and the NCAA.

Four years from now Rod Blagojevich could be running for Congress again. (His impeachment keeps him from running for local or state offices, but not federal.)
Comment by Just Me Monday, Feb 3, 20 @ 12:21 pm
The Illini basketball loss this weekend kind of took the wind out of my sails. They missed a lot of shots of the sort that are going to be needed and reliable in order to make a real run. I’m trying to still be hopeful, though.
Comment by Responsa Monday, Feb 3, 20 @ 12:26 pm
Thanks for all you do, Rich.
Comment by IL4Life Monday, Feb 3, 20 @ 12:27 pm
Speaking of Blagojevich, I think he’ll be eligible for parole in just over two years from now. Ewwww.
Comment by Just Me Monday, Feb 3, 20 @ 12:29 pm
Disclosure was at bottom of the site, but it was paid for by Skillicorn’s primary opponent Carolyn Schofield’s campaign committee.
It did quote Capitol Fax at the end of Chapter 1 from January 15.

It’s a yes or no.

Happy to see the Chiefs win, happy for Coach Reid and I wish Lamar Hunt could have been there. There is a lot of Chiefs fan in Illinois.

Despite Sunday’s loss to Iowa, the Illini were still in it until pretty much the last couple minutes. That was 1/5 of the gauntlet, they still have 4 games upcoming with the top teams in the B1G standings. I’m hoping for 3/5 but 2/5 may be more realistic. Winning only 1 of the 5 should keep them in the NCAAs but probably not winning the conference.

Oh, and it’s nice to see the Salukis making a good run in the MVC.

Where is the benefit to storing State files in the Cloud which is slang for a big server in northern Virginia? Has it sped up the retrieval and storage of documents? My observation has been to the contrary.

BDD. One day at a time and my sincere hope for a positive outcome.

BDD–Chemo has saved and prolonged many lives. But the very word has the power to strike panic and fear into most of us. Thanks for sharing and best of luck to you going forward.
Comment by Responsa Monday, Feb 3, 20 @ 1:27 pm
Thanks all. 9 years ago I went through my first batch. Then the most feared words in any any cancer survivors’(?) life is ‘it’s back’. I cried like a baby. Contemplated not going thru with it…until I had a grandson sitting on my lap. Instant courage and resolve. You can’t believe how CapFax helps fill the hours. Daytime and nighttime are all mixed up. I even enjoy trolling for OW and wish like heck Wordslinger was around to give me a couple hayseed references..

CarWashKing continues to thrill GOPPies with this remark “The scandals seem to never end when it comes to Madigan and the Springfield political class. At some point, the most powerful man in state government and Chairman of the Democratic Party of Illinois has to be held accountable.”because it gives yet another chance to review how Durkie,GovJunk so deftly handled Rep. Paws transition to the six figure gig after their probe.

Do you think everyone knows the Mike Madigan is to blame for everything that has and is and gonna go wrong in Illinois?

As you can tell I am a fan of the Illini. Good game with Iowa. Losses happen especially after a 7 game streak. Time to start a new streak.

I was a member of that club, too, the one you never want to join. It’s not an easy journey, but one generally worth taking.
I sure hope you find something that helps with the side effects.
Try to stay strong.
Comment by JoanP Monday, Feb 3, 20 @ 4:59 pm
Joan and others. It is amazing how the brotherhood/sisterhood of those who have gone through this really is. It is indescribable. Before round 1 in my life, I never knew what to say to someone who lost their hair during chemo. I figured it rude to say anything. Awkward you might say. After being in that position myself, it was amazing how many survivors shared their experience and lessons with me.it was great therapy. I tried to remember that good feeling and passed it forward.
Comment by Blue Dog Dem Monday, Feb 3, 20 @ 5:09 pm
BDD and other survivors–If it’s not too personal, what IS the right thing to say to someone who is losing hair from chemo and is very scared. A dear friend of mine is going through that right now. So much is left unsaid because you never want to say the wrong thing…
Comment by Responsa Monday, Feb 3, 20 @ 5:38 pm
Responsa.Just something simple is all. ‘Hope everything’s going o.k.” Or ‘’if there is anything you need don’t hesitate to call”. Most people I think understand it’s uncomfortable. Sometimes the cancer patient wants to talk, sometimes not. Don’t take it personal at all. If it’s a good friend offer to take him/her to a treatment. I have to go from southern Illinois to St. Louis five days a week and then two days, repeat cycle. About ten treatments into it I can’t drive myself and Mrs. blue is wearing out.
One thing that’s kinda funny. Lots of people want to bring home cooked meals over. It’s a tremendously great gesture, but lots of chemo treatments (not all), the mere smell of food makes ya sick.

To everyone who has been asking:
From the New York Times:

I have been lurking here for a couple of years and now have something to contribute. Also, I am usually two or three days behind.
Finally, I am also a member of the “C” club.
