These pictures are from yesterday [Saturday] evening. This construction warning sign has two vinyl banners - one on each side - affixed to metal poles via some plastic cable ties. Note the cones around the trailer. This was sitting at the corner of 101st and Longwood on the easternmost border of Lipinski’s district, across from St. Barnabas Church in the 19th Ward. It showed up there yesterday afternoon, right before services, and was gone this afternoon.
Last weekend an identical setup was seen near 111th and Kedzie, which is next to St. Christina Church.
Lipinski is very pro-life so this seems like an effort to get the pro-life Catholic vote.
The interesting thing is this setup is illegal since it’s sitting in a public street. The one at 101st and Longwood was blocking half the street.

Kind of reminds me of the proliferation of candidate signs that pop up in the right of way on streets and highways. I never made a decision to vote for a candidate because of seeing their sign in the r.o.w., but I voted against a few because their signs were placed their illegally.

@Commonsense. St. Barnabas and St. Christina have elementary schools — I imagine the stop sign is there to facilitate students crossing the street. Pretty common, even at *gasp* public schools too.

They put up an entire street light, on a state highway, for a church parking lot.

If that trailer has a licenses plate, I do believe the owner could be identified and potentially made to be responsible.

I mean, its obviously abandoned property.
I would have no problem with someone rolling up with a hitch and taking it away where ti can be put to use somewhere else.

As a long ago Barnabas student, I can confirm the stop sign is mainly for student safety. A crossing guard is also posted there daily. Longwood drive is probably not busy enough that a stop sign would be needed to help church traffic.

Just like the giant truck-cranes, some vehicles are free from license plates. So they would have a hard time writing it a parking ticket.
