* WILL Radio interviewed congressional hopeful Mary Miller…
Mary Miller says her bid for Congress is a case of “an ordinary person that’s stepping into an extraordinary opportunity.”
Miller is the wife of first-term State Representative Chris Miller. Together, they run a grain and livestock farm outside of Oakland in Coles County. Mrs. Miller, who has a degree in elementary education, also teaches children through a network of home schools.
When comparing herself to Republican incumbent John Shimkus, Miller notes her support for term limits. Shimkus, who signed a term limits pledge when he first ran for Congress, later rejected the idea of self-imposed term limits, and is now completing his twelfth term in the U.S. House. But Miller said that because of her support for term limits, she doesn’t expect to have a long political career. […]
When asked about health care policy, Miller said she wanted to work for solutions to health care that many Americans find unaffordable. She cites the need for more transparency and competition in the health insurance marketplace, but opposes any “single payer” proposals. Miller said she couldn’t answer the question of whether the Affordable Care Act passed by Democrats during the Obama administration needed to be entirely repealed and replaced.
Her Affordable Care Act response was kinda weird. She actually whispered “I, I can’t answer that” like she’d get in trouble or something if she did answer the question. And then the interviewer moved on like nothing had happened.
* Her response is at the 3:48 mark in the above link, but Darren Duncan’s congressional campaign isolated it…

She’s a phony to the honesty of the question.
What does that mean? Easy.
“Do I bash Obama, but can I do that without bashing Obamacare as a whole?”
lol
Pathetic… but accurate.

Like a test. Always answer the easy questions first, then go back to the questions you are stuck on.

In Miller’s defense they asked the wrong questions. Ask her about patriotism, religious freedom, and our god given right to have as many guns as we want and I’m sure her answers would have been spot on. You know, the things that are top of mind for most of us - not health care.

Republicans in IL-15 work to help flip seat to Democrats

She is an Eastern Bloc protege . . . . .
The competition is very weak and the heavy hitters didn’t get in at all.
Amateur hour at its’ most painful. Some portions of IL 15 will be openly seeking an exit from the District during a remap to protect their own interests. The effort will intensify if a viable Miller district exists.

Ms. Miller - You are in a Republican primary in a race to out MAGA your opponents. Your choices to answer this question were to repeal, replace and/or obliterate. And just saying repeal would open you to charges of being a Leftist down there.

Every candidate in this race I’ve heard says the same thing for this question…open the markets to out of state companies. I guess you need some kind of answer that doesn’t offend the base but still pretends you plan on doing something. Totally inadequate and likely dishonest.

Her response leads me to believe that she and her husband are currently ensured through the ACA marketplace. Many farmers are or have been. A good reporter would have asked that immediately.
I could be wrong. It something tells me I am right.

They are surely on the state plan, right?

“What is she hiding?”
I dunno, maybe once she said something positive about ACA? Maybe it saved the life of a loved one?
Oooo the horror.

Or how it has increased costs and reduced coverage for millions of people on private insurance? The horror.

The ad asks “what is Miller hiding?” Is that what you think she’s hiding?

Maybe she’s hiding the fact that she’s dumb.

Have you seen her commercials? They are all about how she supports Trump and how liberals are trying to turn “freedom OF religion into freedom FROM religion.” Well, duh. That’s what the First Amendment means. Seriously, though, it’s terrifying to think that she might soon be my U.S. representative.

Perhaps someone could just come out and ask Ms. Miller directly what type of health insurance she and her family currently have. Seems like a reasonable thing to ask in light of the fracas over the ACA/M4A/single-payer/public option, etc.
Comment by dbk Thursday, Feb 27, 20 @ 7:30 pm
Why does it matter what health insurance they have? God will provide them with whatever they need to overcome illness. God will not bestow upon them anything that they can’t handle. Unless the liberals take their religious freedom away.

When we were growing up on our farm, we had nothing but major medical coverage with insanely high copays and deductibles. And it was expensive. Wouldn’t her husband as a State Rep, have access to state health insurance?

Chris Miller assumed office in 2019 so his family might have been using ACA up till then.

“Yes, repeal it and replace it with medicare for all.”
Comment by NoGifts Friday, Feb 28, 20 @ 6:59 am
Maybe a good question would be the Freedom Caucus support and big money when the Freedom Caucus opposes everything farm bill from which Miller has, over the years, benefited from with huge subsidy money? #boughtandpaidfor
