* Press release…
This morning, Jeanne Ives, candidate for Congress (IL-06), released her first television ad of the 20202 cycle.
The :30 second spot, All In For Ives, is focused on her success in uniting Republicans behind her campaign for Congress, and features the endorsements of national conservative leaders Senator Ted Cruz, Economist Stephen Moore, and Congressmen Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows.
Republicans are unifying behind Jeanne Ives’ Congressional bid, as she has also been formally endorsed by every GOP organization in the Sixth District that endorses, including Lake County Republican Party, Cook County Republican Party, Lyons Township Republicans, Palatine Township Republicans, Barrington Township Republicans, Hanover Township Republicans and Winfield Township Republicans. Ives has also received the endorsement of former IL-06 Congressman Peter Roskam, Republican National Committeewoman Demetra Demonte, Chicago GOP Chairman Chris Cleveland, ILGOP Vice Chairwoman Char Foss-Eggemann, Cook County Republican Party Chair Sean Morrison, DuPage Conservatives (chaired by Frank Napalitano), Club for Growth, the House Freedom Fund, FreedomWorks, Susan B. Anthony List, and United Hellenic Voters of America,
Rich Porter, Illinois Republican National Committeeman has also thrown support behind Ives in her 2020 race. And the entire Illinois’ Republican Congressional Delegation were recently joined by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy in hosting a fundraiser for Ives in Washington DC.
* The spot…
* Script…
Voiceover:
Senator Ted Cruz, Trump’s Economic Advisor Stephen Moore, Congressmen Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan and the House Freedom Fund are all in for Jeanne Ives.
Ives took on the Springfield establishment.
Ives on House Floor:
Our economy is too weak for a tax hike and you know it.
You know we need jobs.
You complain about it all the time.
And you won’t fix our job creation problems.
Voiceover:
Now, Jeanne Ives will stand up for you in Congress.
Republicans are uniting.
They’re ‘All In’ for Jeanne Ives.

Great ad (for Sean Casten to repackage as a negative one against her in the fall). Excellent work, Jeanne. The message we got from the burbs in 2018 is that they want Trump extremists. But, congratulations on your presumptive primary victory. Enjoy that.

I’m not sure an endorsement from “Gym Jordache” Jim Jordan is a positive…

If Ted Cruz likes you, you can’t be all bad.

I thought “great job creation!” and “wonderful economy” were going to be the GOP slogans. So “our economy is too weak” and “job creation problems” don’t jibe with that.
Granted she’s talking about Illinois, but I’m not sure the average voter will make that distinction.

Isn’t Jim Jordan… a little iffy?

It doesn’t actively mock trans folks and minorities, so that’s an automatic half-point grade up.
Efudd - I legit cannot tell if your comment is a joke, which makes me love it either way.

These are the ads democrats should be running. Tying all republicans to Gym Jordan, Ted Cruz and Mark Meadows. Jeanne is doing the work for them.
Comment by So_Ill Wednesday, Mar 4, 20 @ 10:21 am
I’m a Republican voter in IL-06 who is most certainly not uniting for Ives. I held my nose and voted for Casten in 2018, and I’ll most likely have to do the same again this November.
Comment by Joe Wednesday, Mar 4, 20 @ 10:21 am
Seems effective for the small tent Republican Party. As Moe Berg said, it should help sink her in the general election.

I received my first Ives mailer this week. Similar to the video the implied message is that her predecessor wasn’t conservative enough to beat Roskam. I’m not sure that putting Ted Cruz and the Freedom Caucus front and center is the way you win the 6th. But Ives is going to be Ives. I give her credit for consistency if nothing else.

Give it an “A” since it’s a primary ad.
She can’t get trounced in November if she doesn’t win in March.
Comment by don the legend Wednesday, Mar 4, 20 @ 10:26 am
While Ted Cruz is a national name, doing a cursory Google search of Miller, Meadows, and Jordan show that they might not exactly be the best people to have on your side: An economist who’s repeatedly said sexist statements and other economists actively try to discredit, a US Rep who have people angry at him over his sudden exit and how he’s handled sexual harassment in his office, and another US Rep who has a direct connection to a Ohio State sexual abuse case. This is who Jeanne Ives wants attached to her name?

Only thing missing is god-given right to bear arms and godless socialism. While ok for the primary, I can’t imagine an ad like this will help in the general–as Moe Berg said

Someone brief Trump that according to Ives our economy is weak.
Comment by bogey golfer Wednesday, Mar 4, 20 @ 10:34 am
I always used to be able to console myself with the fact that there were very demagogue culture Warriors in the Illinois GOP at high levels. Ives is proof that’s probably changing.
Comment by PeoriaDem Wednesday, Mar 4, 20 @ 10:45 am
Ives can’t defeat entrenched Casten and anti-Trumpism. The 6th CD is solidly Democrat now.

=== Ives is proof that’s probably changing.===
Huh?
To the rating,
It’s a B-
It’s aimed at two very specific groups;
Those who “know” Ives already and support her
Those still concerned about Ives, but might feel better with (gulp) Cruz, Jordan, and Meadows, and have high thoughts about them.
For a primary it works, but a B- because Trunpkins tout the economy, but Ives “can’t”… “because Illinois” and the IPI type rhetoric of “death spiral” and other loony gaslighting.
Ives should be more concerned about Biden v Bernie and that impact in the suburbs with POTUS come November, but the ad is what it is, and it’s Ives.

Is an ad that can be summarized as “insiders love me” ever an effective strategy?
Even in a GOP primary where some of the names in the ad may be popular the theme does not seem effective.
I give this one a D-
Comment by Gooner Wednesday, Mar 4, 20 @ 3:11 pm
It is a good ad. She’ll coast in the primary. The economy remark is linked with Madigan’s 32% tax increase so confusion should be limited to Democrats. There are more Republicans in 6 than Dems so she just has to get them to the polls.
Comment by Law Man Wednesday, Mar 4, 20 @ 4:03 pm
