  2. I haven’t seen it, but will (alphabetically) Biden, Sanders, or Warren walk in either St. Patrick’s Day parades?

  3. Hypothetical: If you could go back in time and change one thing about Illinois, that would have great positive impact on the State, what would it be?

I would establish the University of Illinois in Springfield and not Champaign-Urbana. I believe it would have given Illinois a 2nd great major city, similar to Madison, WI.

Bluegill as state fish. Second grade me shouldn’t have been making that decision.

  10. Warren is ending her campaign. Yet again Illinois ( the 6th most populous state), plays no part in who gets nominated. This happens every election cycle, for both parties. My ‘person’ is usually not running by the time I get to vote.

  11. Well, you could be like me and have already voted for Warren. Limited early voting began mid February.

  12. Illinois adult-use marijuana sales had another strong month in February: nearly $35 million. That’s great news. We can get over $400 million sales revenue this year, not counting dispensaries that have not yet opened. It’s a bright-looking economic future for this new industry.

  13. Does the proposal to put Illinois on Daylight Savings Time permanently have any chance of passing?

  14. I just read that legal Cannabis sales in Illinois have come to nearly $75 million since sales began, and that February sales alone have brought in over $34 million.

That’s a lot of cash being legally spent. I’m no economist, but legal Cannabis appears to be fairly successful and popular so far.

  15. While I knew the Illini would be better than last year, I never would have guessed that they could be tied for first place in the Big Ten with two games left.

And Arch Madness starts today. SIU has a tough matchup against Bradley with the winner likely taking on Northern Iowa tomorrow.

  16. Who’s funding the endless barrage of Shelly Harris for Supreme Court commercials that have been blanketing the airwaves for the last several weeks?

  19. -Who’s funding the endless barrage of Shelly Harris for Supreme Court commercials-

Shelly Harris, self-funding. What I found more interesting was the content where he seems to be citing past cases with the implication that I ruled this way before so I would do the same in the future (despite the small print disclaimer). Judicial candidates are not supposed to “make statements that commit or appear to commit the candidate with respect to cases, controversies or issues within cases that are likely to come before the court.” Seems to be trying to get as close to that line as he can without going over it.

Other than no Ryan/Illinois First/gas tax holiday, this would have meant either no Blago/Filan (or perhaps delayed at least 4 years).

Maybe even butterfly effects on Obama’s future state/national political aspirations? Perhaps maybe even Blago seeking the US Senate seat against Obama, Hynes, Hull, etc. in 2004–with the runner-up as leading contender for Dem gubernatorial candidate in 2006? (Presuming Poshard’s likely 2002 reelection and that he declines to run for a third term in ‘06).

Or not quite as far back: 1980–The Cutback Amendment referendum fails.
