  1. I think there are going to be a lot of lawsuits in the next few weeks in Illinois. Is that happening in other states ?

Comment by Silicon Prairie Thursday, Apr 30, 20 @ 2:46 pm

  2. In Michigan, armed people are stalking the state house, demanding to get on the House floor. There are literally legislators wearing bullet proof vests on the floor as armed people stand over them in the gallery.

  3. With all these data, there are still people like Breen, Bailey and Cabello. G-d help them…and us given their antics.

  4. I feel for JB. Chicagoland is still a blaze and downstate cases are continuing to grow. While not a lot, they are growing. We can’t re-open but people are getting antsy.

  5. This is the environment that people are demanding a reopening in. Where we’ve only recently gotten growth relatively flat, have hit plateau in testing, and don’t have a contact tracing plan. We aren’t even hitting the *conservative* criteria to reopen

The Michigan legislature is actually in session now?

Comment by Chatham Resident Thursday, Apr 30, 20 @ 2:58 pm

  7. Yes, debating extending the stay at home order.

  8. Still can’t understand why a lot of the pics of Michigan anti stay at home people have people carrying automatic weapons. What are these big bad guys going to do shoot the virus? This is a collection of people with a whole of issues outside of not wanting to be told to stay at home.

  9. ==== Brown County is now reporting a case. ===
My guess is they had cases at least a week ago but the pony express messenger just pulled in yesterday with the mail.

I haven’t been there in a few years now but when I was, there was almost literally no cell services. Even in the towns it was bad.

  10. Where’s Downstate on this thread? Aren’t they going to suggest that these are 141 traffic accidents?

Comment by Candy Dogood Thursday, Apr 30, 20 @ 3:18 pm

  11. But by all means lets open everything up right now.

Comment by Demoralized Thursday, Apr 30, 20 @ 3:29 pm

  12. “I feel for JB. Chicagoland is still a blaze and downstate cases are continuing to grow.”

Kim Foxx is conspicuously absent from the helping matters. Arrests and prosecutions are not taking place in some of the neighborhoods where crowds are congregating. It’s a hot mess.

Comment by Practical Politics Thursday, Apr 30, 20 @ 3:37 pm

  13. I hear you on the no arrests and prosecutions but what realistically can they do? Arrest someone for congregating and throw them in jail where if they do not already have Covid they can get it?

And fines? With what money? Why risk the officers’ health and lives to go interact with numbwits when there is realistically no practical enforement action available?

  14. As of this minute, there have been 62,860 deaths in the US attributed to this virus. Last week, I pointed out that the models that originally said it would take till August to get there with social distancing were wrong. They had bumped up the prediction to 68,000 then. This week they’ve bumped it up to 74,000…. still with a date of August 1st. I just don’t see how things can open up with the number of deaths still occurring nationwide.

  15. == anti stay at home people have people carrying automatic weapons. ==

I seriously doubt they are full automatic weapons (machine guns or what some people call assault weapons); those have been banned to general public since 1934.

They probably are carrying semi-automatic rifles … which are perfectly legal.

  16. Mortality rate is holding steady at .0008. Still less than a 1 in 10,000 chance of dying if you are otherwise healthy but become infected. (Model used to determine mortality rate is proprietary and may not be legally divulged).

Comment by Captain Obvious Thursday, Apr 30, 20 @ 7:43 pm

  17. The Illinois COVID-19 death toll is now slightly more than the entire population of Cairo (IL).
