Imagine the food fight if there had not been a super majority.

It’s mesmerizing, watching the Illinois House on the floor of the convention center.
It’s watching process, stripped down from the graduate and beauty of its natural form.
Toggle to the Senate, you see the chamber, and the members, and you can feel how how empty it is, hear almost the echoes of nothing in a chamber silenced of buzz.
Surreal. Mesmerizing.

On the right side column of the ILGA.gov site, it says the Senate is gonna be in on Tuesday?

As someone who thinks committee work could be done with remote attendance, this week demonstrates why floor work requires attendance at the Capitol. And does the House miss the IT infrastructure of the House Chamber?

That is the date they are scheduled to return under the regular calendar.

The Captain - Surely you can’t be serious?

We are living in interesting times. Making the best of a really bad situation. It’s nice to see that there’s not a lot of political grandstanding taking place…err…well…nevermind.

…that the third house cannot convene….

Heartening to see business and labor work together on two huge issues and be able to reach agreement in a short period of time. The Governor should learn a lesson from this experience and follow longtime protocol from legislative leaders to use an agreed bill process.

I guess the foot’s on the other hand now, isn’t it, Birds and The Captain?! — Ted Stryker.
The House session falls under “continuity of Government” in emergency planning lingo; why didn’t the Senate move to temporary facilities as well?

There is a certain amount of civility that sometimes doesn’t exist at this point in a session as nerves are usually frayed by this time. So theres that. Hoffman provided some nice levity to start today.

Interestingly enough, this is the least maddening special session ever.

Civility and respect is prevailing, compared to past sessions. The seriousness of the moment is obviously why.

“Isn’t that special?”
