A political fundraising breakfast held over the weekend in Park Ridge has caused backlash from the mayor and residents.
A fundraising event called The Red, White and Blue Breakfast, hosted by the Republican Women of Park Ridge, was held Saturday morning at the Park Ridge Country Club.
Members of the group, as well as several top Republican candidates running for office, were in attendance. Organizers posted photos of the breakfast to Facebook, then later took them down after backlash on social media from community members.
“From the pictures it certainly looked like they were making very little effort to social distance,” said resident Ginger Pennington. “In that case, I wish someone in the club would have stepped forward and asked them to wear their masks when they weren’t eating and follow some of the public health guidelines all the rest of us have been trying to follow.”
Meetings and social events are limited to 50 or fewer guests or 50% of the overall room capacity. Guidelines also state attendees should wear a facemask except while seated.
* From the Republican Women of Park Ridge…
All attendees removed their masks to eat. After sitting down and starting to eat, attendees were asked to stand to recite the pledge of allegiance, and some did not put on their masks as they recited the pledge. Some individuals removed their masks momentarily after the event when taking a photo. The very limited times when attendees were not wearing masks were warranted and reasonable.
This is why people should avoid indoor events. You don’t get a hall pass from the virus when you eat or take photos or whatever. And keep in mind when viewing these pics that the limit is the lesser of 50 people or 50 percent occupancy…
* On to the Lake County GOP…
In the wake of Republican National Committee Chairperson Ronna McDaniel’s positive test for coronavirus, Illinois’ Tenth Congressional District Democrats (Tenth Dems) is urging caution after McDaniel recently headlined a large, unmasked fundraiser in Lake Forest, Illinois.
Video of the large, September 18th gathering was posted the next day by Lake County Republicans on “the official Facebook page for the Lake County IL Republican Central Committee.” It can be viewed on Tenth Dems’ Facebook page, where it was saved in case Republicans removed the video.
Meh. That event was a few weeks ago, so I seriously doubt McDaniel’s presence poses a current hazard. Also, much of the event was outside.
However…
* And now, this…

That region has an average positivity rate (excluding Champaign County) of 7.2 percent. I shudder to think what’s gonna happen if the state has to impose its mitigation protocols.
Also, nice shorts, Chapin. You fit right in.

Chapin looks great in capri pants
It’s hard to tell where the leg ends and the white shoes begin.

Somehow, Chapin Rose is not the most ridiculous-looking person in that room.

Cleary, Chapin heard free Pie and rushed out the door.

Sure looks like more than 50 people at that Park Ridge event.
Did we get a headcount?
Also, it looks like only one woman has a mask in the photo.

If you want to see what oblivious to the things happening around you, Rose has that costume for you.
I do appreciate Rose in a picture and aligning with the Eastern Bloc.
Once again, possibly the only good about the Rauner/Trump years is learning about people in ways they’d never show you before… shorts or not.

Two questions:
1) Anybody know why Republican officials keep getting the covid?
2) Is it still a conspiracy when you’ve conspired with others against yourselves?
So puzzling…

My bad, those are Chapin’s “session jorts”
I was wondering what happened to his sleeves. Then I saw the flyer and realized Halbrook made ties out of them.
So resourceful that Eastern Bloc.

Yoder’s has served a fried chicken lunch buffet all through the COVID crisis. Proper social distancing and well-spaced tables. The parking lot was full and the place was jammed. Average age was well into the 70’s. I’ll admit I ate there in May. Don’t forget the ice cream on top of that home-made pie.

Per this NY Times piece, Todd Ricketts was in D.C. for a fundraiser with Ronna Romney McDaniel and Donald Trump the Friday night before the ACB Rose Garden ceremony.

Any reports on whether he was tested after that? Ronna at the very least would have been contagious based on timeline she has given for symptoms and test.

I’m OneMan enough to admit I would have been attracted by Free Pie pre-covid.
You always get more people when you say you are going to have pie….
Comment by OneMan Tuesday, Oct 6, 20 @ 12:57 pm
Quite the girth on some folks at this gathering. Clinically obese presents high risk factors for Covid. Instead of pie, perhaps carrot sticks, celery and broccoli. No dip included.

Not really sure Chapin Rose is “showing” a new side. He has always been a far right political animal.
He is in the middle of Eastern Bloc country. Works perfect for the Senator to continue to pretend he is relevant.

Fat jokes weren’t okay when the target was the president of the Chicago Teacher’s Union, and they aren’t okay when the target is a Republican either.
Show some class, Capfax commenters. This isn’t the Chicago Tribune comment section.

If my memory serves me correctly, Harrison Ford popularized the “suit coat and dress shirt with blue jeans” look in one of his movies. He (or the costume designer) did not do the rest of us any favors as I see this look still enjoys bipartisan support. Can’t we all agree that this fashion choice belongs on the same trash heap of history where leisure suits went?

No one said anyone is fat. Just observing the fact some folks are short for their weight.

For those tracking, Lake County Republican Chair Mark Shaw has:
(1) Raffled off military-grade assault weapons the week after the Las Vegas massacre.
(2) Hosted a self-described “maskless” superspreader event in the middle of a pandemic.
Which candidates are being funded with Shaw’s blood money?

seeing Todd Ricketts at a Republican event reminds me of what I’ve been calling the Cubs….Team Tax Dodge. Between the local property tax dodge and the President’s tax dodge, if you give your money to the Cubs, that is the vast majority of where your money goes to, people who support a tax dodge.
