  15. Since he will be in Jackson Co. the Gov. should curb pick up a couple Quatro’s pizzas in Carbondale. It would be worth the effort. I suggest the “challenge.”

  20. It’s easy for me to look at the US as a whole and get discouraged. That it is too lazy to do the hard work of epidemic management and its citizens too selfish to wear masks to protect themselves and others. Then I go to my local Jewel and everyone is all masked up. Same with my local hardware store.

It’s different in Iowa where my vac home is. Here, it depends on the time of day. If you go out early, the older folks are out and about and they are all masked. If you go later, the youngers are out and they are not. In Iowa, I limit myself to chain restaurants. Iowa has had really high rates of positivity. The chains have their lobbies closed. The local mom and pop places don’t. I figure the chains have a higher concern for their employees and their customers.

  23. Got down to the county building and voted. No lines but a steady stream of people going through.

I also paid the property taxes that were late on one house because the renter hasn’t been paying and didn’t have the funds until now. Wonder how many other landlords are in the same situation?

Comment by RNUG Monday, Oct 19, 20 @ 1:05 pm

  24. Am I the only one freaked out by the skeleton?

Voted early at the Sangamon County Clerk’s office last Wednesday. No line. Was probably 5 to 6 other people, at 2pm, voting at the same time. I was number 1657 for that voting machine. There was another machine that took ballots, but I don’t know the number submitted.

  25. Is the skeleton holding a cellphone in its right hand? Sports: Go Bears. Politics: The election can’t come soon enough; voting by mail or drop-off box. Weather: Seems like Fall in Chicagoland. Southern Illinois: Put yer mask on and spread out.
Rich: Will Oscar be making a Fall photo appearance? Many of us could use a dog break.

  26. This probably will get discussed here tomorrow, but the BGA has worked with consultants to come up with their redistricting map scenarios based on “independent maps”:
