Another day, another loss for Tom DeVore

Posted in:

* Welp…

A ruling will be made at 1:00 p.m. by Judge Raylene Grischow. We will have more updates on @wics_abc20 and @foxillinois.

— Alyssa Hui (@AlyssaHuiTV) November 17, 2020

Attorney Thomas DeVore represents Charlie Parkers, Fox Run, and Sweet Basil Cafe.
Attorney John Curley represents D&J Cafe.

— Alyssa Hui (@AlyssaHuiTV) November 17, 2020

This means that these businesses will have to close temporarily on a “temporary restraining order.”

Judge Grischow grants temporary injunction. Four restaurants in Springfield serving indoors without food permits need to cease.#SJRBreaking

  1. Oh, darn. DeVore is what, 1-20 now representing clients on these types of cases? Maybe if he’d argued their constitutional right to fish was in jeopardy, he might have had a stronger showing.

Comment by Fixer Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 1:52 pm

  2. Dear Tom DeVore,

    Go away.

    Sincerely,

    Everyone

Comment by The Dude Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 1:54 pm

  3. DeVore has to be making bank for a dude that has such a losing streak. Maybe he could coach the Bears. (Too Soon?)

Comment by Nagidam Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 1:56 pm

  4. “First… the checks cleared, so I’m grateful. As for the ruling…”

    - Tom DeVore, maybe

  5. This guy makes Lovie Smith look like a success.

Comment by Give Me A Break Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 2:04 pm

  6. Gee, maybe judges think the public health police power is particularly strong during a pandemic.

Comment by Keyrock Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 2:04 pm

  7. I personally know of at least one Springfield area establishment that hired him and how much they’re paying him. They only paid him $500. But, they’re a tiny bar, so he may be using a sliding scale for fees.

Comment by Osborne Smith III Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 2:05 pm

  8. 1 word ” BOOM”

Comment by Tax man cometh Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 2:06 pm

  9. Dear Mr. DeVore:
This isn’t golf. You’re not trying for the lowest score.

    Sincerely
    Everybody.

  10. The damage DeVore has done is already spreading.

To this day, the Will County Health department is stating is does not have the authority to do the things contained in this thread of tweets.

There are far too many health departments who have seemingly been taken over by the chamber of commerce, and abrogating their responsibilities on public health.

Comment by TheInvisibleMan Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 2:11 pm

  11. If at first you don’t succeed.
Try, try (taking the client’s money) again.

Comment by Jocko Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 2:15 pm

  12. Yeah but what about: freedom, Merica, hoax, turning the corner, magically disappear, kids don’t get the virus, where’s the proof, give me data.

Please add any that I left out.

Comment by don the legend Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 2:19 pm

  13. DeVore clearly isn’t getting paid for winning cases. He is just racking up billable hours for angry clients.

    Comment by Just Me 2 Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 2:20 pm

  14. Jerry Gallo or Callo was more successful than Cousin DeVore. Maybe a couple of Utes can take over for Tom.

Comment by Omay Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 2:22 pm

  15. D&J Cafe… The place whose owner posted a racist rant about George Floyd on his Facebook page in July. Says a lot about those who continued to patronize the place.

Comment by John Deere Green Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 2:33 pm

  16. “They only paid him $500.” -Osborne Smith III

    They got their money’s worth.

Comment by Dotnonymous Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 2:35 pm

  17. I’ll add these to the list of venues that I will no longer patronize. I understand this is an extreme hardship and I truly feel sorry for them and their employees. Their refusal to adhere to the rules is illegal & unfair to the businesses that are complying. What other health-related laws/standards do they choose to ignore because…it doesn’t suit them?

Comment by Irma Gerd Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 2:40 pm

  18. With a couple of exceptions, the IL judiciary has done an exemplary job. Too bad, we have too many elected officials fail in doing theirs in protecting their constituents from the pandemic.

Comment by Norseman Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 2:40 pm

  19. I am spending Thanksgiving alone this year and it’s these people who are keeping me from spending it with my mother, whose 88th birthday is also next Thursday. Thanks a lot, jerks. You’re really sticking it to the libs, aren’t you?

    Comment by Cheryl44 Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 2:48 pm

  20. A month or so back there was a story here about a place in Indiana - Yergys BBQ.

They had their hearing and a decision was due yesterday.

    They lost.

Comment by TheInvisibleMan Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 2:56 pm

  21. Is there an ARDC hearing in Mr. DeVore’s future? One can only hope.

    Comment by Rudy’s teeth Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 3:16 pm

  22. ===This guy makes Lovie Smith look like a success.===

Heck, he even makes Ryan Pace look like a success.

Comment by Six Degrees of Separation Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 3:26 pm

  23. “They only paid him $500.”

Boasting about how little you were scammed for is the sign of a satisfied mark.

    Or even Dale Sveum.

  25. I’m starting to feel sorry for him. Never wins. /S

Comment by Bruce( no not him) Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 4:05 pm

  26. If you only count the case where he won, then DeVore is winning and all the other cases should be thrown out due to widespread fraud!

Comment by Grimlock Tuesday, Nov 17, 20 @ 4:17 pm

  27. If he were working on a contingency fee, he’d have to be more effective, so he’d be more selective. But he’s selling confidence and he’s got those suckers hooked. What do we call people who sell confidence?
