Illini finally playing like their rank. Only took a few years…decades…
Comment by Swampy Corn Tuesday, Dec 1, 20 @ 9:01 am
Are the Bears really ready to launch Nagy? Is he ready to launch himself? the GM is the one who should be gone with some very bad draft and trade choices.
Comment by Amalia Tuesday, Dec 1, 20 @ 9:04 am
the Illini barely beat the university of Ohio. that game was an embarrassment. they were outplayed by one guy who ran up and down the floor playing some great ball. imagine what will happen when they run into a team with 3 ballers on the floor. I’m not convinced the Illini will be able to maintain this spot in the rankings.

I’m getting curious why the focus has been on ComEd when the legislation gave an even larger bailout to Ameren in southern IL. Ameren was allowed to charge their customers 13% more than ComEd was allowed to charge their customers.
Are all the state reps in southern IL happy about this deal allowing their constituents to bailout Ameren more than ComEd? Because they seem rather silent on this aspect.

Any thoughts on Giannoulias going for Secretary of State?
The ink isn’t even dry on 2020 but probably puts him back on track to follow in Baracks footsteps.

Pro-Tip:
When forwarding your resume to the Speaker’s office us a PDF format. Using a dynamic format while begging for political graft to get you employed at a private company adds another layer of unprofessional appearance.

With the Sox’s debacle-insistent front office, I still maintain my respect for their fan base based on this video alone https://youtu.be/nfQpl30a3-A

According to some “chatter” on sports radio, Jim Harbaugh was and remains close to the McCaskey family.
A plot to solve two coaching problems seems to be Michigan gets rid of favorite son without having a messy departure and the Bears find a proven Pro Coach who is close to the owners.
There ya go, problems solved.

Unclear on the concept, the Tribune has an editorial demanding Mike Madigan call the state senate into session with the state house lol. Not how that works.

I think this is more on Pace than Nagy, who can work only with the players he’s given by the GM.
Pace should be launched for the Trubisky decision alone; to me, that outweighs every positive move he’s made.
Comment by Northsider Tuesday, Dec 1, 20 @ 9:39 am
The Pace / Nagy partnership has been a complete disappointment. I thought Nagy was very creative with his play calling his first year - not so much after that. The drafting has been poor with the premature jump to select Trubisky and now it looks like Kmet isn’t going to pan out either. I don’t think it’s an understatement to say we should be much more competitive with this defense. Time to clean house.

The Bears march from 5-1 to 5-11 continues. Why these people have jobs is beyond my understanding. The management of Detroit sacked the coach and GM this week, so maybe that can be an example.

== I think this is more on Pace than Nagy, who can work only with the players he’s given by the GM.==
Some of the “busts” Pace drafted have thrived once they went to other teams. That says a lot about Nagy.

I think this is the first time I’ve read Alexi’s name on this blog in years. Surely the Democratic bench for that office would have better contenders for the position that have been more transparently involved in politics or at the very least issue advocacy for the last several years.
No need to try to serve a statewide office up on a platter for a rich guy that doesn’t seem to have worked for it.
Comment by Candy Dogood Tuesday, Dec 1, 20 @ 9:53 am
I see Carol Moseley Braun wants to be Secretary of Interior in Biden’s cabinet. I thought Roland Burris had that tied up.
Comment by DuPage Saint Tuesday, Dec 1, 20 @ 9:54 am
The McCaskeys continue to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic, while sinking their own ship with odd QB’s who never pan out (in Chicago, anyway), and Pro-Bowl players who suddenly can’t play to save themselves from massive embarrassment. Nagy crashed and burned, but he’s had lots of help from players, coaches, and management doing the same.
Comment by thisjustinagain Tuesday, Dec 1, 20 @ 9:59 am
The Bears have an ownership problem, first and foremost. After Ted Phillips, practically everybody who works for the team (except coaches and players) is a McCaskey family member. The Bears are, literally, the family business. That’s the problem. It isn’t about wins and losses, it’s about how many cousins and nieces and nephews and in-laws can draw a good salary from the only asset they family has. Period. Their priorities are completely backward.
Until the family sells the team, expect nothing better than mediocrity and higher season ticket prices.
Comment by 47th Ward Tuesday, Dec 1, 20 @ 10:17 am
For the Bears, I think that it’s both a Pace and Nagy problem. Pace has made some good draft choices, but missed on the big ones. His trades have been bad as well, selling the future to try and win now when they did not have a proven win now QB. Mack and Quinn contracts should have never been done and been invested in the offense as well. Foles was even worse.
Nagy was supposed to be an offensive guru, but it seems he’s only good with good players. His schemes work with smart and talented players, and turns into dumpster fires with average (or below) players. The fact the offense does better when it is simpler is proof of that.
In the end, story of the Bears. They spend too much money on defense and the offense is bad.
Comment by DuPage Guy Tuesday, Dec 1, 20 @ 10:29 am
@Northsider, yep, Pace is the worst. @ Give Me a Break, omg, Harbaugh the pouting/whining coach. I would not like him here one bit.
Comment by Amalia Tuesday, Dec 1, 20 @ 10:47 am
Fire Pace, let new GM decide whether or not to keep Nagy.
Personally, I’d let Nagy go. He might be a good coach someday but he isn’t one right now.
Comment by ChicagoVinny Tuesday, Dec 1, 20 @ 10:47 am
“and the Bears find a proven Pro Coach who is close to the owners.” The question is, of course, what has he proven?
Comment by Skeptic Tuesday, Dec 1, 20 @ 10:58 am
who is the new State Senator for the 20th District?
Comment by Amalia Tuesday, Dec 1, 20 @ 11:16 am
Nagy reminds me of a basketball coach I had in high school. He tried to have his players fit his offense. Would not tailor his offense to match his talent. He lasted one season.

Just got a UI Finding letter in the mail yesterday. The problem is I did not file for unemployment. When I contacted my employer (retired school teacher now bus driver), they stated that this problem is running rampant throughout the state and that many believe it is an “inside job.” Is this true? And if it is, has there been any publicity on it? Oh, I was also told to not to expect a call back from IDES as they are too overburdened with the issue. The school district said they will take care of it when IDES talks calls them…

Don’t forget the old GM scam - keep the old coach for a year or two then fire him and bring in your own guy. That way the GM gets two bites at the apple (I’m not saying this is a good thing).
For the record though, I think 47th is correct about ownership being the real problem. So correct, in fact, that I’ve recently been contemplating either switching allegiance to another team or giving up on the NFL altogether, which is probably what we all should do.

Is Martinez reaching out to her opponent for what the Clerk’s Office is really like for attorneys and the public? Martinez should, since her opponent knew first hand how bad it was even before Covid.
