Although other unions like SEIU, Teamsters, and the Carpenter’s union, plus AFL-CIO, congratulated Welch’s election to Speaker, AFSCME is conspicuously silent.
Could AFSCME’s silence on Speaker Welch have to do with their opposition to the collective bargaining provisions in last sessions police bill (HB 163, SFA 2):
