A full 60 degree temperature swing in 7 days. It’s a wonder we don’t crack in half.

Am I the only one who thinks Darren has zero chance?
Don’t think any of his beliefs will fly in the top 1/3 of the state…

i would argue that darren will be your republican nominee. other republicans will try to thread the needle between establishment republicans and the trump loyalists. the establishment folks will not accept any of the trump nonsense. the loyalists will not accept anything other than pure trumpism. darren will not even try to appeal to establishment. he has the clearest lane in the primary. he will go on to get his clock cleaned in the general.

Darren says “we have been mocked.”
Perhaps he is the reason.

Darren’s path is improbable at best. There are not enough independents to get him close.

Heard the crashing of ice hitting the ground yesterday, falling off of a building. We need to be careful and mindful as the ice melts and falls. It is a lovely sunny morning today.

@Skeptic: I am in Springfield and a friend took me out for lunch. On the way home, she took Chatham Rd and was being careful but the whole road is a pot hole. My teeth still ache.
Yep, weather changing.

Bailey should be mocked, and mocked often, and by folks who know how.
Bailey is a conspiracy theorist’s dream. There’s very few things Bailey sees as honest… like… science… or… reality.
Bailey tells the folks he’s playing them, while appealing to the things that scare them.
Bailey is carnival barker, but with a legislative office.
Keep in mind too, any mask, it’s not about your safety, it’s the respect you have for others to protect them from what you may spread. In actuality the selfishness that is Bailey is the most honest thing about him.
The goal I guess is in 2023, January, Bailey is off the carnival barker box. If I need to watch Bailey for the next 20+ months to get there, I’m going to approach Bailey’s run as he wants me too… more like Barnum and Bailey then just plain ole Bailey.

It isn’t Darren who has been mocked. It’s his dysfunctional and dangerous agenda that has been mocked.
Comment by Frumpy White Guy Tuesday, Feb 23, 21 @ 9:35 am
Isn’t Darren being mocked. It is Unadulterated bald-faced stupidity being mocked.
Comment by Drake Mallard Tuesday, Feb 23, 21 @ 9:41 am
Darren Bailey does not like to be mocked.Yet, that is the best he deserves.

the right hand lane southbound MacArthur from South Grand to Wabash/Stanford is atrocious. I’ve seen cars swallowed whole by some of those potholes (slight exaggeration).

Is a “single subject” clause challenge to HB 3653 expected? Similarities to court challenge of “Truth in Sentencing” in 1995? Will Bailey or Schimpf initiate or champion legal action against HB 3653?

How do Illinois fall 5 places in vaccine administration in a week. Per capita we were 17th from the bottom (only counting states) and today we are 12th from the bottom. What gives?

Zero chance in a GE, only slightly better in the primary.

South MacArthur is one of those roads in Springfield and IDOT District 6 that has the reddish-orange looking asphalt. As is South 6th between about Stanford Avenue and St. Joseph St. (Southern View).
I’ve previously seen the reddish-asphalt as far back as the late 80s in other parts of IDOT District 6. I haven’t been out in those areas for over a decade so I don’t know if they’ve seen been replaced. I remember seeing it on US-136 in Hancock County in the late 80s, and even on I-72 in Pike County (IIRC around Barry).
Anyone know if there’s a Cellini connection for the reason why many roads in IDOT District 6, including parts of MacArthur and on South 6th in Springfield, have that reddish-orange asphalt that gets potholes easily? Was that his preferred brand of asphalt back in the day?

For NIU alumns and other former DeKalbites: former longterm alderman and former DeKalb mayor Bessie Chronopoulos has died at age 72.
Following what she termed a “bad cold” she was seriously gearing up to help city candidates for the past two weeks, the Eveready bunny of good government right up to the end.

“Hey this is Chris Miller from the 110th District back from the Great State of Illinois. We’re at the save America Rally here in Warshington DC. Think it’s important to know we’re engaged in a great cultural war to see which world view will survive whether we will remain a free people under free market capitalism or whether they will put us into the tyranny of socialism and communism and the Dangerous Democrat Terrorists that are trying to destroy us.”
– Illinois State Representative Chris Miller moments before the rally he attended became a deadly mob that committed acts of insurrection.
That video he posted was just 52 seconds of what he did that day. What else did Representative Chris Miller do that day?
I believe he has failed his oath of office and believe he is unfit to remain in the legislature. Statements immediately after the fact are not a sufficient response.

Last week, bought a shiny new snowblower to replace the decades old one that died. This week, it’s in the 50s with 40s and 50s forecasted for the foreseeable future. My plan worked perfectly…I knew if I broke down and bought one, the snow would go away.

Reddish asphalt is due to the color of gravel used in asphalt mix. Are there any quarries that are crushing red rock in the area?

I am beyond thrilled that you bought that new snowblower NoMoreMC. Maybe I should replace mine also just to make sure this beautiful weather continues.
