Please keep it Illinois-centric and polite. Thanks.

So, if you’re not in one of Lightfoot’s favored zip codes, there’s no vaccine for you, because “Equity”, while high risk people in other parts of the city get sick and die. Surviving voters won’t forget and provide some much-needed “equity” to Lightfoot at the ballot box.

Per Mark Maxwell, DCEO sent $1.1 million in COVID-19 relief grants to dissolved companies. Some, according to Secretary of State Business Services, had been dissolved as far back as even 1987 and the 1990s:

Made me think of the gorilla experiment, where you tell the observer to count how many times a basketball is passed between a few people, and they focus so much on that they don’t notice the man in the gorilla suit that walks in, stands in the middle of the basketball people, and walks out. I actually fell for that the first time I saw the video, I was floored when they asked who saw the gorilla. The tie in being I bet the video editor was focused on the guy being interviewed, not the background. Happens to the best of us.

I have also wondered why the Northwest suburbs of Cook county have been ignored by the Health department. I have tried for several days and many hours to get an appointment with no luck. It is time for Cook County government to get its act together and provide the vaccines for everyone.

I am actually one that if there was a TV camera nearby, I would run from it as fast as I could. Just because I don’t want to be on TV or be interviewed (as I’m camera shy). Not because I have something to hide, along the lines of old-time 60 Minutes exposes (back in the Dan Rather and Mike Wallace days of the show).

More needs to be done to address the fact that caucasians seem to be given preference over black and brown community. Is this yet another example of systemic racism?

Public Servant - were you just as concerned about ‘equity’ when people in those zip codes were dying at a much higher rate than yours?

Big Mike: I feel your pain. As I’ve said before, the vaccine is non-existent in the NW suburbs. I’m to the point now that I feel highly insulted in that I am more than approved to receive the vaccine, I have been spending an inordinate amount of time searching for an appointment, and I feel the Health Dept. is laughing that nothing will be available in my area, ever. Why don’t they just be honest with us and tell us there may never be availability until they get their “selected” people all vaccinated?

I can’t stop laughing over the thought of lobbyists submitting saliva covid tests, “this sample came back 100% Jagermeister”.

I’m terribly concerned about the folks who live on the Gold Coast possibly having to put up with a Target in their midst.

The way the vaccines were handled at United Center reminds me of how the marijuana licenses were given out. Seems like good intentions but reality kicks in-and then try the to change things mid stream

Isn’t Des Plaines in the northwest suburbs? I sure thought it was when I grew up there.

This is the problem with an issue such as this. It has been used to divide a Community, a State, a Nation. Several top politicians have made it a partisan issue or as you suggest a racial issue. I’m not taking issue with your comments. I’m taking issue with the issue of using the pandemic to further divide. We are better than that! One Nation Under God.

Joan, I am old enough to remember when WTP opened. There was a McDonalds among the Fields and the Lord and Taylors. The Ladies Who Lunch had to be schooled on not just sitting down and expecting table service.

Big Mike & Blanche - My in-laws were having a hard time getting scheduled until one of them had a check-up with their doctor. The doctor gave them a number to an Advocate group. Not sure if it’s because the doctor is part of the group or if it was because my FIL retired from Advocate Lutheran, but at the end they are both fully vaccinated now.
Long story short, ask your PCP if there is another resource to contact to get scheduled.

Yes Des Plaines is in the NW suburbs. However all slots were filled within about 2 hours! Family members in North Carolina, George, Indiana, Arizona and Vietnam have all received the vaccine. Please explain why the NW suburbs are so far behind.

Big Thank You Chatham Fire Dept, my mom was having heart issues and I wasn’t sure we could make it to the hospital yesterday. I took her to the engine house and they took over. Excellent group, our town is lucky.
Setting at hospital right now, she’s doing so much better.

=== Public Servant - were you just as concerned about ‘equity’ when people in those zip codes were dying at a much higher rate than yours? ===
Rassalas, I’m always concerned about equity. I understand that neighborhoods with a higher percentage of people that did not have the option of working from home were at higher risk of contracting covid than those who could remain at home. So, those neighborhoods had greater numbers of people that died from the disease. Whenever anyone dies of covid, it’s terrible…in my neighborhood, or any other.
Anyone living in any neighborhood today survived covid. We’re all in the same boat. To paraphrase George Orwell’s Animal Farm: “All survivors are equal, it’s just that some are more equal then others.” That’s what Lightfoot is saying, and it’s wrong. Chicago was given its own amount of Covid Vaccine, and everyone that qualifies in a particular phase in the city should have an equal chance of receiving a dose regardless of whether they live in one of Lightfoot’s favored zipcodes, or not.
I and other members of my family have covid co-morbidities that put us at a high risk of getting a severe, possibly deadly, covid infection. Lightfoot is putting my family and I at a disadvantage, and she’s going to pay for that, if I have anything to say about it.
