* Op-ed by Illinois Republican Senators Sue Rezin, Don DeWitte and Craig Wilcox…
Since the plan was created and publicized, rules, metrics and guidance have changed quickly and regularly, and the goal posts for returning to normalcy keep moving. But one thing has remained constant over the last year: Governor Pritzker still insists on unilaterally controlling every aspect of the COVID-19 response, and he refuses to allow for input from the legislative branch. The governor has issued 76 executive orders over the last year, and during that same time period, legislators have been offered exactly zero opportunities to weigh in on COVID-19 policy decisions.
Their beef is with the Senate President. His name is not mentioned once.

I love it when people are in the wrong building.

Nobody cares about the Senate… including Senators.

Thank God. When we’ve heard from the GQP, they advocated actions to aggravate the pandemic. The so-called party of responsibility is anything but when dealing with COVID-19.

Rich, that’s an insult to beef.

It’s best to stay silent then be seen as not grasping how the legislature and their chamber works.
It’s good for the Trump lemmings, but anyone who understands how either chamber works would first point to any of the 4 Tops when questioning action/inaction by the legislature.
Small, simple thinking. Congratulations.

This is about polling, not procedure. Keep trying to move numbers; even if the clear majority of folks support mitigation measures, they might be moved about an (unfounded) complaint of unfairness.

The goal post comment is just a dumb cliche at this point. The rest of their statement reads like an anti science statement from the 1600’s. we do not want to evolve as we better understand the virus, we should stay in the dark.
The GQP- “We don’t need no fancy light bulbs or automobiles”

Rezin and DeWitte are on JCAR. They’ve had plenty of opportunities to vote down emergency rules tied to the Governor’s EO’s.

Sue Rezin, Sue Rezin.
Is that the same Sue Rezin “moderate” Republican who might run for gov?

Yeah but it’s a simple message geared towards simple minds. If they started putting up “Harmon S@c&s” signs most people would ask “Who’s Harmon?”

What is especially rich are their complaints about Pritzker doing things that they (the Republicans) asked for, such as:
“inconsistent standards for different regions” (these were put in place after the Republican complained that the standards that treated the whole state the same way weren’t fair)
and “the metrics required for full opening will change yet again, with the unveiling of a new phase, a “4.5” phase, before our state can enter Phase 5″ (again, this is being put in place to answer Republican complaints that the jump from Phase 4 to Phase 5 was too big and would take too long)
And yet, they also complain that the Governor isn’t listening to them.

Exactly correct. Harmon being bland and boring is to his credit. It’s always best when a legislative leader is unknown to everyone but those who read Cap Fax.

At least they aren’t filing meritless lawsuits like their counterparts in the House. I guess that’s a plus.

@ Boone’s is Back–
Don’t forget, Clay County’s pride and joy, Darren Bailey, is now a state senator.
Your statement might not be true in a few months.
We’ll see how it goes, but I wouldn’t put more than a penny or two on the odds of Beetle getting smarter…
