you missed a fairly significant story out of the PJStar and WEEK tv about Jehan Gordan in the 92nd airing and mailing inaccurate if not fraudulent information about her U of I degree. (she said she had one when she did’t) Peoria Pundit went so far as to say she has a truthfulness problem. in the aftermath of the nafta center revelation and the claims that she was nominated by her opponent, an allegation she couldn’t substantiate to WEEK which issued a retraction story.

I love the “Daley Plays Shell Game” story at the top of Ice Rocket to the left. It gives a different angle than ALL other media is giving to the free rides for seniors plan. I suggest you read it.

Lee Corso must not be a regular reader or he would know that Morning shorts isn’t designed to be comprehensive. That story will get play elsewhere. Relax and be patient. We didn’t “miss” anything.

I’m fine with cutting edge drug treatment, but I wonder how many of those incarcerated meth users
are nonviolent drug offenders.
I hope we aren’t seeing mission creep in the criminal justice system, that is, putting people in jail so they can get drug treatment and keeping them there longer to help them get off drugs.
That’s not the purpose of our very, very expensive
criminal justice system.

This is apropos of nothing, but I thought your readers would like to know. Hilary’s campaign has selected a new theme song: “You shook me” by AC/DC.
All that money. The best and brightest staff. And yet….
You can’t make this stuff up.

It’s not exactly “Happy Days are Here Again” but ladies and gentlemen, the Official Theme Song of your next president:
She was a fast machine
She kept her motor clean
She was the best damn woman I had ever seen
She had the sightless eyes
Telling me no lies
Knockin’ me out with those American thighs
Taking more than her share
Had me fighting for air
She told me to come but I was already there
‘Cause the walls start shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
And we were makin it and you -
CHORUS:
Shook me all night long
Yeah you shook me all night long
Working double time
On the seduction line
She was one of a kind, she’s just mine all mine
Wanted no applause
Just another cause
Made a meal out of me and come back for more
Had to cool me down
To take another round
Now I’m back in the ring to take another swing
‘Cause the walls were shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
And we were makin it and you -
CHORUS
And knocked me out and then you
Shook me all night long
You had me shakin’ and you
Shook me all night long
Yeah you shook me
Well you took me
You really took me and you
Shook me all night long
Ooooh you
Shook me all night long
Yeah, yeah, you
Shook me all night long
Your really took me and you
Yeah you shook me, yeah you shook me
All night long

Do you not think “Highway to Hell” is more appropriate?

Holy moley, who in Hillary’s camp went off the deep end? Seriously, her new campaign song is about a HOOKER?!
umm…earth to camp Hillary. Bad song for a campaign. Generally speaking AC/DC is probably a baaaad choice for a campaign song for anyone.
However, probably not as bad as when a republican pulls out Born in the USA or American Woman or some other anti-war protest song for their patriotic campaign anthem.
And, go Chicago Plan Commission!!!! Good Job!!!!
Somebody needs to shut down the Congress, settle with the union, and renovate it. The current ownership is far too neglectful. That hotel should be a gem, and instead it’s skid row.

The OTHER Willy Brandt–former Chancellor of West Germany–had problems with an aide, too. In that case, HIS aide was found to be too close to the Stasi.
I know there’s a good joke in there somewhere.

Cassandra,
As these are meth addicts, I’m guessing most of them are in for cooking and/or selling, not using. Meth cooking creates a severe environmental hazard (most of the brainiacs don’t bother to dispose of the waste materials responsibly, nor do they bother with niceties like proper ventilation even when their children live on the premises with their “lab”) and degrades the quality of life for their neighbors. Further, meth addicts tend to become paranoid and aggressive (it’s like the anti-marijuana) and so a lot of meth addicts wind up in prison for weapons violations and battery.

Not to mention that meth cooking involves extremely volatile chemicals that can explode or cause flash fires, which obviously “degrades the quality of life for their neighbors” who live next door or in the same apartment building or motel. In fact state law was changed a couple of years ago to permit aggravated arson charges to be filed in ANY case where ANY person (including the meth cook himself!) is present when meth cooking starts a structure or vehicle fire.

{The witnesses called the property an “eyesore” and a “dump.” Ald. Robert Fioretti, whose 2nd Ward includes the hotel, opposed the proposal because of many complaints he said he has gotten about its cleanliness and service.}
{Unite Here charged that the city’s Buildings Department has been unable to document complete inspections of the 1893 hotel since 2003. City code requires that hotels be inspected twice a year.
A spokesman for the Buildings Department said later that 12 inspections that it considers thorough were carried out there in 2007.}
How many out of town guests do you believe thought to contact the Alderman cleanliness and service there? How many in town guests?
Does the Alderman keep a telephone call log with notes? How about a correspondence file with any follow up communications. A record of internal inquiries to regulatory agencies of the city? A file which includes any responses?
Before the vote, Daley in a separate appearance explained his rationale for supporting the expansion.
“It would be inappropriate to bring the hotel’s labor issues into a discussion [about hotel expansion],” Daley said. “The matter before the Chicago Plan Commission is to determine if these plans are in accordance with the Lakefront Protection Ordinance. And that’s all it has to do.”
Daley also noted Fioretti enjoyed heavy union support in taking the aldermanic seat from an incumbent.}
Looks lke some new appointees to the Chicago Plan Commission could be in the pipeline.
