What’s with the glacial pace of vaccination rollout in Chicago and northern Illinois? I can’t find an appointment north of Springfield. And this isn’t slow take-up either; a glance at the county map around the state additionally shows a generally much higher rate of vaccination in lower Downstate.

Eloy is still having issues in left field. I hope this injury isn’t too serious. He looked to be in a lot of pain yesterday.

I’m a low risk category but want the single dose J&J vaccination. How does one go about finding where that is being distributed? Or is it catch as catch can when my name gets called ?

Here’s a location offering the J&J vaccine, but I think you need to live or work in Cook and meet the current criteria to get it.

I met Buff several times. He was a great guy and put in extraordinary time and effort over decades to better the lives of fellow Illinoisans. Suddenly I feel guilty I never thought to nominate him for a do-gooder Golden Horseshoe. Condolences to his family and friends.

I wonder how much money was invested in contact tracing. Over the past year I had been in direct contact with at least 16 folks who tested positive for covid. Not one, zilch, call from anyone. Coincidence?

My partner is still looking for a shot. We’re in Cook and he works in DuPage. I got my first dose through my work in the city. I do not understand why Chicago and Cook are so slow compared to the rest of the state. Yes, I know both demand and density are higher but that also means we have more health care providers and clinic sites.

Gannett has now officially USA Today-ified the SJ-R. Starting with yesterday’s print edition. Changed the font style to “Unify” which is similar to what is used in USA Today.
I’m actually now wondering if it might make sense in Gannett markets to discontinue circulation of the national USA Today newspaper, and incorporate the rest of that day’s issue into the SJ-R and other Gannett newspapers.

===Over the past year I had been in direct contact with at least 16 folks who tested positive for covid.===
For contract tracing to work effectively the person who tests positive has to be cooperative and forthcoming about where they’ve been and who they have been there with. This process can be difficult to have go smoothly when people who test positive for COVID are the same kinds of folks who wouldn’t be willing to show someone else a copy of their vaccination card.
Other factors are if it was reported that you were briefly in their presence for a short time period and everyone was wearing masks, even if it’s not true, it is unlikely that they would feel the need for you to be contacted.
So it might be worth exploring what your friends who tested positive for COVID-19 reported to the public health department.

Just heard from the VA that it is now opened up to more veterans to receive the Covid shot. Our county in N IL ranks in the lower third for immunizations, and if Vets can utilize VA it could help our numbers.
