We’ve now administered over 1.5M COVID-19 vaccine doses in Chicago.
An equity-focused rollout WORKS. The data proves it week after week.

* Saturday in the Tribune…
Populationwise, 1 in 5 Black Chicagoans has gotten a first dose while that number is 1 in 4 for Latino residents and 1 in 3 for white Chicagoans.

The news out of Washington this morning with respect to J&J will not increase trust or make the job easier for local officials who are vying to get the population vaccinated.

With regard to that J&J story:
Right now, I’d still take it in a heartbeat.

Given that the Governor essentially just told everyone in Chicago to go to the suburbs to the mass vaccination sites will the Mayor be taking credit for all those vaccinations as well?

I would say hold off on the gold medals for now. I’m glad people are getting vaccinated, still we have a long way to go before we’re out of this. Can’t wait to get out of this…

There’s something odd about those numbers, given that IDPH reports 21% of Chicagoans are fully vaccinated (565,000), and 1.508 million doses have been administered. Even if those were all Pfizer or Moderna, requiring two doses, that should mean that another 380,000 people have received a 2nd dose. Meaning more than 1 in 3 Chicagoans overall have received a dose. That’s not even close to being mathematically compatible with what the Trib wrote.
I think the Trib screwed up, and the 1 in 5, 1 in 4, 1 in 3 numbers refer to people fully vaccinated, and significantly more have received at least one dose.

Lori Lightfoot and Allison Arwady are the only people who believe that their approach is working. They are far behind the rest of the state because of their obstinance and at odds with both the state and the Federal government. She had to be dragged kicking and screaming into April 19th date.
