* May the 4th be with you…
A new video offers a better look at music icon Prince during one of his most memorable performances: The absolutely blistering guitar solo he pulled off during an all-star rendition of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” at the 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
The moment came during a tribute to George Harrison, who was previously inducted as a member of the Beatles but was being inducted posthumously as a solo artist that year. Prince, then a newly minted member of the Hall of Fame himself, stole the show with a solo that quickly became a career highlight, and it went viral online after his unexpected death in 2016.
Now, Joel Gallen, who produced and directed the event, has released a new cut of the performance.
* It seems like a good way to kick-start the morning…
What do you want to talk about?

It looks like more kids will be eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine starting next week. Good thing as children now account for over 20% of all new cases and we are running into a vaccine surplus.

Wild spring weather is here. I photographed a soccer match at 4:30 yesterday, a bit of rain but the severe storms split and went north and south of the field with nothing but a beautiful sunset on the drive home.

I’m not sure I’ll be going outside without a mask even when this is over. I haven’t had a cold in over a year.

Truly a performance for the ages. I love the close-ups on Prince’s fretting hand.

I’ve seen that video a bunch, just watched it again and it still gave me chills. What a monster guitarist.
Prince’s Super Bowl performance is also in my #1 one spot. Followed by J.Lo/Shakira but that was less about the music.

thank you for posting that video. Prince was just genius. I’m so happy I got to see him one time, standing up for the entire concert, dancing. What a loss.

I remember seeing this for the first time and was blown away. Lots of people rank Hendrix above Prince, but I would say Prince is easily on his level, which is out of this world. Prince could do it all - rock, jazz, funk, R&B…
He is missed.
Comment by TheUpperRoom Tuesday, May 4, 21 @ 9:50 am
I always thought Prince was supremely strange but man there are very few guitarists that can play at that incredible level.

Berwyn is going to have local free vaccine clinic. This is going to be how it has to be done, getting vaccines where people can easily get to them. Especially when many do not have cars yet are hesitant to use mass transit, which is a chicken-egg situation, you want to get a shot so you can be immune but first you have to roll on the germ-y + at times violent mass transit (yeah, I know both the germs and the violence are due to the people on the mass transit and not the mass transit itself).

One of the greatest one off solos of all time. Great tribute to a vital musician from a group of insanely talented musicians. Great clip.

The Trib Editorial Board needs to get past any professional jealousy and take this information to heart for the next 10 years before writing editorials about Illinois population changes.

Shouldn’t “adopt” read “purchased”…?
As Hodai showed, Buffett has put trail cameras out on his property and followed the tradition of border militias in rural Southern Arizona by bringing men in from out-of-state to do patrols for smugglers on his ranch property. In emails Hodai obtained through public-records requests, Buffett sent photos of apparent smugglers to friends in the Macon County Sheriff’s Department.
One deputy wrote back: “You need a rag tag group of macon county sheriff vigilantes to show up and kick some ass.”
“Bring Chad, need his enthusiasm!” Buffett responded.
And indeed, Macon County friends have come out and conducted border patrols on Buffett’s property.
Cochise County Supervisor Ann English told me she sees a bit of Old West fantasy in Buffett’s Cochise County activities.
“Of course the sheriff has found someone who is of great benefit financially to him,” English said, referring to Buffett’s donations to the department. “Buffett also benefits because he feels like he’s part of the Old West.

Secretary White is calling for a new, more prominent location for the Martin Luther King, Jr. statue in the Capitol complex square. Instead of its current location on the northeast corner of Capitol and 2nd in front of the State Library:

OMG!
I finally saw “Abraham Lincoln. Vampire Hunter.”
Words fail me. What producer approved this script?
What an epic mess. Equal parts mixed martial arts, green screen special effects and utter nonsense.
I thought that that only bloodsuckers in Springpatch were in the General Assembly.
LOL fun. Glad that I caught it on cable rather than at the theater. Maybe it will be on Svengoolie in ten years.

=== Words fail me. What producer approved this script?===
It was epic. Genius.
It’s not based on *any* reality or basis of a historical reality …except who Lincoln was
Sometimes… it’s just a film.
Spielberg did the reality film… but… vampires…that rocks.

Great Prince stuff.
Prince still rules the Super Bowl halftime rankings too.
That performance was wow… even the rain helped sell it, not that Prince needed any help.
