* You’d think that since both Matt and his wife Sandy have good jobs with good insurance, they wouldn’t need anything but our friendship at a time like this. But paid family and medical leave is temporary, and insurance doesn’t always cover things, so their need is all too real. Please, help them out…
Matt Jones is one of those folks who can disagree without ever being disagreeable. @peoriajones has a rare form of malignant brain cancer and he and his family really need our help right now, so please do what you can. Thanks! https://t.co/A4GJrGnHl9

One of the best under the dome. Gracious, intelligent, and, most importantly, a man of integrity. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery, Matt.

@Jim - Matt has been in and around the Capitol for longer than most and has managed to do so without ever engaging in any of the ugliness that can sometimes infest our politics. He started out on Senate Republican staff and is now in the office of the State’s Attorneys Appellate Defender. He is always prepared, one of the truly smartest folks under the dome, a total mensch who does his job with integrity, grace, respect for all opinions, and a genuine love for this place. As someone who is frequently on the opposite side of a negotiating table with him, I’m proud to call him not just a friend, but part of my family.

= State’s Attorneys Appellate Defender =
I’m assuming she means the State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor?

Appellate Prosecutor (very much not the Appellate Defender). Truly a gentleman, one of the best people to deal with in Springfield. Hoping for the best outcome for him.
