Good luck everybody on the vaccine lottery drawing.

Conflicted between the need to hold China to account for it’s government’s human rights abuses, while knowing we need them as a partner in the fight against climate change. Biden has a fine line to walk that I do not envy.
Also still waiting for an Illinois Climate Bill.

It looks like the Sox are running away with their division, 8 games up. That’s great and bodes very well for when/if injured players return. The Cubs, not so excellent, 8.5 games back.

Early July, yet starting to look at that bow and treestand with anticipation.

So if someone wins the vaccine lottery and they publish their name isn’t that a violation of HIPA? Would that person have won two lotteries considering the resulting lawsuit?

I got a letter from the county or the state saying they didn’t have a record of my second Covid shot, although I’m pretty sure Walgreens is good at sending those in. Are they culling the lists before they do the lottery? (and should I contact whoever sent me the letter??)

Anybody who’s ever been to China or worked with China knows that the Chinese government will never “partner” either on human rights abuses or climate change. It is naive to think that their leaders have any genuine interest in doing so.

BigLou, you clearly don’t know anything about anything. IDPH has said that they are going to reach out to the winners for permission to give their information to the lottery so they can collect their winnings, and there was a law passed years ago to give winners of a lottery in IL the option to remain anonymous. So, everything you just said is untrue.

It says right in the Lottery FAQs that winners will be contacted first and can decline to participate. Further winners can choose to remain anonymous. Also it is HIPAA.

===Go Cubs===
If anyone remembers former city clerk Jim Laski they might remember that was the phrase that sealed it for him when the feds recorded him taking bribes.

Thanks for the info. The way its been said in the news is the winner will be contacted. I have not seen anything about use of name.

What are we thinking about today?
Well, as a first time corn grower, my thoughts are as to whether I should remove a few of the plants. They are only about 18 inches apart and they are all waist high or higher. I’m not sure if removing a few will help the others or will reduce the crop.
I’m also thinking about some complex litigation matters (I just got off Zoom for a court appearance on one) since I do have to make money to live my corn growing dream.
In any case, in answer to your question, that’s what I’m thinking today.

Really good article in yesterday’s NY Times about Chicago’s climate change battle against Lake Michigan.

Came across this story about Illinois withdrawing from the Midwest Student Exchange program. We’re hemorrhaging students to other states, especially Wisconsin (our son included).
It won’t affect currently enrolled students.

When planting sweet corn, it should be planted in a block formation rather than a single, long row to allow for the plants to be closer together for adequate pollination. Without pollination, corn kernels will not develop on the ear. The recommended spacing for planting sweet corn is 8 to 12 inches apart in rows 2.5 to 3 feet apart with seeds being planted about 1 to 2 inches deep.

Thinking about Mary Miller and Marjorie Taylor Green in Effingham tonight…
How many masks will be worn inside Keller Convention Center (not including media or plants)?
Will Senator Bailey grab a selfie with MTG?
Will the Delta Variant be present tonight?
Comment by 62468 Thursday, Jul 8, 21 @ 1:15 pm
@62468–
I don’t think you should doubt that Delta will join Mary and Marjorie tonight,
The only question I have is: how many people will bring Delta in, and how many will take Delta home?

I missed this post yesterday, but I have anecdotal evidence that the White Sox are picking up more fans in the Western Suburbs. At the Bartlett July 4th fest, I saw more White Sox hats and t shirts than ever before. Go Sox!
