It’s way too early to tell, but I hope the Bears finally have a quarterback who has eluded them for so long.

Great to see Mister JayEm is back, it’s like a wrong that is righted.
Also, the chasm that is Chicago baseball is widening by the minute. Pretty soon the embarrassment that is Iowa Cubs baseball will be measured by other AAA clubs.

@MisterJayEm -
Did you ever find out what the problem was?

Sox dropping two to the Yankees going to need to tighten up here as the playoffs get here. They’re not playing the Twins and Cleveland in October.

Hopefully it wasn’t anyway here …

Loving Thursday night’s game, and even Saturday, but not Sunday and not the closers. what the what Sox?

Could the Cubs set a franchise losing streak record Friday against the Royals? (breaking the current 14 set during their 0-14 start in 1997).

Went to my first ‘vaccination required’ venue, they accepted a photo of my card, they also know me.
The hospital system I volunteer at will not accept a vaccination card as proof of vaccination. They will accept an image from their EMR system if you got the shot from them.

Sox have a huge divisional lead and can coast a bit to preserve player health and keep them rested. Yankees are in a must-win position every day.

I see the Cubs’ regression to the mean is complete. Here’s to another century of futility.

==Iowa Cubs baseball==
Could the Iowa Cubs actually beat the Chicago Cubs at this time?
Comment by EssentialStateEmployeeFromChatham Monday, Aug 16, 21 @ 10:23 am
Don’t forget that the Sox had a large division lead in 2005, almost blew it at the end of the season, and got hot in the playoffs and WS. I’m ok with coasting a bit now as long as we stay healthy. More concerning is Tony LaRussa failing to challenge a couple of bad calls yesterday. What’s up with that?

He did it Saturday too.

A group of Public Safety Officer Downstate Pension Funds has filled suit in Kane County to find the Pritzker consolidation plan unconstitutional. The number of active and retired folks represented by the funds number over a thousand and a hearing on the case is scheduled for September 10th at 10am.
Should be interesting.

The same deal happened with the Cardinals the following year (TLR’s 1st WS title while Cards manager).

===what the what Sox?===
The Sox got “fat” off one of the worst divisions in MLB. I love this White Sox team and think they have some great young players. But I believe the expectations may have been too high for such a young team with two (three counting Madrigal) of its best players hurt for most of the season. I would have given the youngsters one more year of seasoning before going all in i.e. Madrigal for Kimbrel, which I think was a bad trade. The Sox play very good teams for the next two weeks+ so hopefully this will help the young players get some “playoff type” experience.
In terms of the Cubs, I truly feel bad for Cubs fans. They are horrible right now. If you’re horrible because you have a bunch of young players that are growing together that is one thing. But most everyone on this Cubs roster will be gone next year. I do not know of one player on the Cubs right now that I am exited about for the future.

I see that Jay Cutler has lost his Uber Eats ad gig over his anti-mask views.

My questions is why Uber Eats even selected Cutler as a spokesperson in the first place, considering how bad of a QB he was while a Bear.

He’s been rehabbing his image for the past few years. I would even go as far as saying that some of the podcast guys have painted him like a cult hero too.

We are moving to New Mexico next month. We love Illinois, we adore the Quad Cities, but combined my wife and I have had four doctors advise us to move to a far sunnier and drier local. Illinois - sorry, it’s the weather.

Shia Kapos, check your playbook. You are confusing your Smith and Harris Michelles, and one spells it Michele.

Took my father-in-law, a vet, to the fair yesterday. It was a nice day overall. Crowds seemed slightly smaller than typical but still plenty of foot traffic. Half the people in the dairy building weren’t wearing masks (not eating either) and I didn’t see anyone enforcing it. Note to the organizers, please don’t make the vets walk to the Lincoln Stage to get the food vouchers and then back to the commodities building to get the actual food. My FIL sat and I walked back and forth for him to collect his stuff as it was too far for him to walk.

Could someone please help me explain to these downstate yahoos that going to the local farm store, buying ivermectin, and “figuring out how much I can take” to prevent/treat their COVID is a really bad idea? Two folks I know currently hospitalized from this foolishness. (hospitalization due to COVID not adverse affects of ivermectin or so I am told)

Although not strictly Illinois centric, but today is National Airborne Day. I salute all my Brother’s and Sister’s of the silk. Have a drink for those we remember.

@DownSouth:
I don’t suppose they’d listen to the FDA: https://www.fda.gov/consumers/consumer-updates/why-you-should-not-use-ivermectin-treat-or-prevent-covid-19
They’d probably say it’s part of the Deep State or something.
