Rep. Tom Demmer, a hospital administrator by trade who serves as Illinois House deputy GOP leader, said he’s launching a digital ad campaign today to raise his profile in expectation of running for either Illinois Secretary of State or Treasurer next year.
“As I consider what to do in the 2022 cycle, this is a good time to get out there and interact with voters statewide,” Demmer told me in a phone call.

State Sen. Darren Bailey, who’s running for the GOP nomination for governor, reports raising more than $420,000 in the past week, including $200,000 from businessman Melvin Alex, according to the State Board of Elections.
He got another $100K from Kaskaskia Organic, LLC in Mattoon.

Judge Rene Cruz filed his paperwork on Monday, August 16, 2021, with the State Board of Elections to establish his campaign committee that will support his candidacy for the 2nd District of the Illinois Supreme Court. Cruz currently serves as a judge in the 16th Judicial Circuit of Illinois as the Presiding Judge of the Criminal Misdemeanor and Traffic Division after having served eight years and presiding over the Family Division. Judge Cruz was first appointed as a judge in the 16th Judicial Circuit which served DeKalb, Kane and Kendall Counties in 2012, and was elected to another term in the 1st Judicial SubCircuit in 2018 after having been unanimously appointed by the Supreme Court of Illinois as a Circuit Judge in 2016.

Demmer really does have a difficult decision to make — run against the incompetent incumbent Frerichs or challenge opposition research nightmare Alexi. Demmer is literally and figuratively a modern day Saint compared to these two.

Interesting. Alex Melvin appears to be the CEO of Rural King, which appears to have also furnished the Bailey family’s wardrobes throughout for the campaign thus far.
Also interesting is that Bailey got another 100k donation from somebody out of state and I don’t see a great google trail for them.

I hope they didn’t spell Dean Maragos’ last name wrong and it’s a transcription error. Not that Alexi would care if they forgot the ”S” in Dean’s last name, and not that Dean would care because Alexi is a great Dem that can never do any wrong even though he endorsed a republican and hasn’t been around for 10 years.

That’s exactly what stood out for me when I looked at it.
I’m curious if any of these people go to a doctor when they are sick with anything else, or do they just ask for advice from a political candidate.
That would certainly help to explain the undiagnosed mental illness on display with that pamphlet.

No, that’s not how the law works. Parents have state-mandated obligations to protect the well-being of their children, lest they lose custody of those children. That’s how the law works.

Missing the diversity in this array of speakers — not surprised.
For all the parents who are crabbing about masks in schools, here’s a simple solution. Masked students can attend school. Unmasked students continue with virtual learning at home with no masks required. It’s called home schooling.
No need for all the conflict. Choose A or B and live with the choice.Does anyone in this group have the clarity to see and to accept the obvious?

Illinois has moved the needle in the right direction under Pritzker but we still have some important issues that deserve attention. Mask and vaccine mandates as well as how to protest aren’t important to most people. That’s not going to win you a statewide election. SMH

And another $100K from a Jean Speer in Florida. The original owner of Rural King was named Speer, so if I had to guess I’d say that is some relation.

Demmer seems like a nice guy and all considering the other members of his caucus he is very reasonable, however, is he electable statewide? I guess we will find out.
