* Nobody seems to know what US Rep. Mary Miller might say today during her speech at the Illinois State Fair’s Republican Day festivities…
Rep. Mary Miller ignored questions from local reporters just yesterday. She stayed after to take pictures, but her staff said she wouldn't be taking questions because she was in a hurry to go eat. She and her entourage proceeded to walk around the fairgrounds for maybe an hour. https://t.co/4l1LnFX9Gi pic.twitter.com/aDqmkt4jBY

Never apologize to the mob!

* Rodney Davis will also be on the dais, but Adam Kinzinger is not on the official speaking list…
“One thing I think the Democrats in Springfield and throughout Illinois understand about me: I’m not afraid to fight.” [Rep. Rodney Davis said]
“I fought Republicans and Democrats in one of the most competitive districts, not just in the state, (but) in the nation for the last 10 years,” he continued. “And remember, Democrats drew this district to elect a Democrat in 2011, and we’ve beaten them every time. So they know I’m okay and ready for a fight. We’ll assess what fight I’m going to be in once that map comes out.”
Beyond Davis, Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Channahon, may also have reason to worry. Even if the prominent critic of former President Donald Trump survives a GOP primary, his home might be drawn into a district based in the growing Chicago suburbs and exurbs, which have a more Democratic tilt.
* US Rep. LaHood and Senate Republican Leader Dan McConchie will also be speaking today…
“There is a lot of opportunity for us going into the 2022 cycle to win back seats, both in Illinois and across the country,” U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood, R-Peoria, told The State Journal-Register. […]
McConchie, one of the scheduled speakers at the invitation-only noon rally on the Director’s Lawn, said Republicans have always stood for freedom, “responsibility of the individual” and “limited government to maximize freedom for people.”
He said he will repeat that message at Thursday’s rally.
“When we are our strongest is when we come around those areas of principle that frankly I believe the vast majority of Americans still believe and embrace,” McConchie said.
* From this morning’s state central committee meeting…
Now, we're hearing from candidates. First up, @RepLaHood. He highlights the handful of diverse GOP candidates that won across the country last year. He then calls for a ban on critical race theory, the promotion of "patriotic" education for children and the hiring of more cops.

Now, @RodneyDavis. In case you missed it, some Democrats are already lining up to take him on next year:https://t.co/Vorqsymm4U

* The gubernatorial candidates aren’t scheduled to speak at the fairgrounds, but a statewide Republican candidate was ridiculed by reporters several years ago for saying something similar to this during the fair…
Gary Rabine by phone on @WMAYNews, When asked what he plans to do when it gets to the fair, he says, we've been here for a couple days all over Southern Illinois.
He does realize that Illinois State Fair in Springfield, Illinois is not in Southern Illinois, right? No?

I guess the new Trunpkins are “pro-choice”?
That’s new.

“the handful of diverse GOP candidates that won across the country last year”
Nothing says diversity like the Illinois GOP…
On Rabine: He has been smart to campaign heavily in the Chicagoland area, where the actual votes are at…but he continues to show that his inability to do his homework on even basic things (like what Southern Illinois is…).

Man, these events are just nothin’ when your party doesn’t hold the Governor’s mansion. Dem Day in ‘15 was pretty lame, too.

The cult of Trump fought Republicans for four years.
Davis, refusing to impeach Trump finds himself as Pro-Trump but no where near as Pro-Trump as Mary Miller.
That quote above…
===“We’ll assess what fight I’m going to be in once that map comes out.”===
… only a scared candidate that knows he can’t beat someone waits for a map. He can’t out-Trump Mary Miller, could he drawn into LaHood country with no base.
Davis is telling this directly to all

“Never apologize to the mob!”
Maybe someone from the right can explain why many self-proclaimed Christians are so full of fear and hatred, which is antithetical to the Gospels. Not saying Rep. Miller proclaims this specifically, but people on the right in general.

Davis can’t really pull off the tough guy schtick.

“Chair Don Tracy takes a jab at @demsforillinois chair Robin Kelly, calling her “the food and beverage chairwoman of the Democratic Party,”
Where have I heard that before?
(Sigh)

I like the Republicans who stood for things like an interstate highway system better than the ones whose ‘freedom’ is more important than other’s lives.

Don Tracey, former Democrat Candidate, just in case anyone forgets.

Think there is a typo in Mary Miller’s tweet - should be “Never apologize for a mob.”

Lahood out one side of his mouth: “Republicans stand for limited government and individual freedom!”
Lahood out the other side of his mouth: “Republicans will ban studying history, teach alternative “patriotic” history that would make Kim Jong-un blush and hire more government agents to make sure you are patriotic enough!”

I’d like to know specifically which of those principles are… I’ve yet to see one mentioned

I really hope the new map takes me out of LaHood’s district. He is the worst rep I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with over the years.

According to Twitter someone was making offensive jokes, people were uncomfortable but nobody stopped this person. That is pretty representative of ILGOP leadership. It looks like the inmates are running that asylum.

I don’t think I can concisely sum up how I feel about the GOP holding large gatherings in doors with no masks as a sign of political defiance.
Comment by Candy Dogood Thursday, Aug 19, 21 @ 2:11 pm
So LaHood. If I read Brenden Moore correctly, LaHood said, “There are lots of minorities running for office as Republican Candidates across America. We need to ban discussions of race.
I just do not see the logic here. Minorities exist. Do not discuss anything relevant to Minorities.”
