    The Bears had neither…activity nor achievement.

    The defense didn’t achieve stopping big plays… there was no activity by an offense that could be considered “functioning”

    The Bears lost by 20, on the road.

    If I didn’t know better, the Bears were flown in, given a million dollars to play, and were destined to lose by 20, just like any college cupcake scheduled to play teams in the Top 25 in college football… brought in as a tune up for the real games coming up.

    It’s that pathetic

  3. Bears were destined to lose this one. That said offensively they performed way better than I expected and they took some risks that failed but showed some guts. Long way to go. Rams are good and as a Bears fan one of my favorite players of all time is Matthew Stafford. Don’t jump in the lifeboats yet guys. The Rauner interview last week is enough to make me feel we’ve gone from the 1 yard line to at least our 40 with a first and 10

Matthew Stafford, from his time at Georgia, his gutsy and free-wheeling play in Detroit, his family story (the real health struggles with his wife) I’ve always been a huge fan of Stafford, and now that the Bears are done with the Rams (or more directly the Rams are finished with the Bears) I’m looking forward to cheering Stafford on.

    Dalton is not the answer for the Bears.

    Let Fields play, if the Bears are going to give up 30+ points a game, that offense needs someone dynamic enough to scare teams that the Bears are dangerous with the football, Dalton isn’t that guy.

  13. Over the weekend it was announced that former WGN-TV anchor Allison Payne had passed away in Detroit on Sept. 1. She was only 57. (She was with the local and superstation versions of WGN from 1990-2011).

  18. It’s a bit of a quandary for Matt Nagy and the Bears. Andy Dalton probably represents the best chance of winning now, saving Nagy’s job, and having a somewhat respectable season. But the future of the Bears is Justin Fields and likely not Matt Nagy.

    Say what now? They didn’t complete a pass over 10 yards, their “answer” at qb ignored wide open receivers and had two key turnovers (including one in the red zone that ruined what should’ve been a scoring drive), and the most electric player they have barely saw the field and didn’t see the field at all down 20 with 3 minutes left.

    Last night showed that Matt Nagy is and has been the proble on offense. His excuse left town, and the same results happened.

    All that being said….at least they didn’t look as bad as the Packers yesterday. Yikes.

  24. I suggest the Bears concentrate on buying Arlington Park and recreating an enclosed Sofi stadium there.
    That place looked amazing, and only $5.5 Billion. The McCaskey’s would just have to be tougher salary negotiators with the players for a few years. s/

    Guess it means the two QB’s skill sets aren’t radically different and perhaps its about the coaches and pieces in place around the QB.

    And a one game sample is, just that.

    Sigh… how many playoff appearances did Cincinnati have, did Detroit have…

    I mean, Rex Grossman and Aaron Rodgers have exactly the same amount of NFC Championships… one.

    Dalton led the Bengals to five consecutive playoff appearances from 2011 to 2015 (2011, his rookie year)

    The problem with Dalton vs. Stafford… the deep ball, 10-20 yard pass plays… Dalton doesn’t have the skill set, today, necessary to win against teams that play fast, strike fast, and Dalton can’t lead or give confidence to folks he can “keep up”

    I’m trying to figure how Fields would’ve been worse than Dalton last night. Maybe Fields could throw and complete a pass of 15 yards or longer.

    I have no idea what that means, I’m glad you were able to type it.

    If you believe the Rams are going nowhere, it’s against conventional wisdom, and Stafford joining the Rams is a reason cited.

    If the Rams are predicted to be playoff caliber, the Bears didn’t meet that bar… with Dalton.

  37. The Bears are worse than I thought. I don’t know what happened to Nagy as a play-caller. His first season he constantly had opposing defenses so off balance that the mediocre talent on the Bears could dominate. But since then, he has been lame and predictable.

    Montgomery was by far the best bear player on offense. In the first half, he had 11 carries for 89 yards. So what does Nagy do to in response to such success, he calls a total of 6 plays where Montgomery touches the ball in the 2nd half (5 carries and 1 target pass).

    And considering the Bears may be working with their 3rd string left tackle going forward, do we really want to hurry up and throw Fields into this mess right now?

  38. The Bears have some talent.

    Nagy is terrible, his play calling is erratic, risky and stupid. I would feel better rooting for an up and coming team if I thought they were moving forward. Nagy sucks, fire him please now. Why wait til the end of the season ?

  40. The Bears are who we thought they were….and that’s not very good. QB controversy is all but meaningless while D-line is too weak to stop any determined team. Mack was quiet, others were traded, newbies not so good. Hicks committed yet another stupid penalty. Nagy….is living in dreamland thinking this team is going anywhere but another wildcard playoff bid. (Note to NFL: get rid of the additional wildcard slots; weak teams don’t deserve the chance to get beaten in prime time playoff games.)

  42. Comparing Dalton and Stafford at this point in their careers seems a bit silly. Dalton is at best a backup at this stage of the game whereas the Rams were willing to deal a quarterback who got them to the Super Bowl to acquire Stafford. Time will tell if they were right.

    But it’s clear who was the superior quarterback last night. More importantly which team was superior. Whether the starter is Fields or Dalton the reality is the Bears are lacking talent on both sides of the ball to compete at a high level right now.
