* JB for Governor campaign manager Mike Ollen…
“The JB for Governor campaign is requiring full vaccination against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. We are leading by example and following the same science and medical advice from doctors, nurses and medical professionals that has guided Governor JB Pritzker in his strong leadership to protect the lives and livelihoods of Illinoisans during this deadly global pandemic. The best way to help end this pandemic is for all of us to listen to the science, and that means getting vaccinated. As always, we’ll continue putting the health and safety of all Illinoisans first.”
It’s not unexpected. But they’re one of the first major campaigns in the country to do this, and it’ll mean other Illinois candidates in both parties (statewide, congressional and legislative) will likely be asked about it.

Looks like mandatory vax is coming for all state workers under the Governor. AFSCME 31, time to get on board.

Nothing to see here. It would be news if he didn’t do this.

Acknowledged in the post. What will be news is when other candidates/caucuses are asked to respond.

I misunderstood. Yes, that will certainly be interesting.

Ball game.
Is you campaign anti-vax? Why no mandate for those on the campaign? How can you be pro vaccine but not mandate it for a safe workplace?

The very issue that Jim Durkin announced he wanted Republican candidates to avoid. Kudos to the Pritzker campaign for making that impossible.

“Unlike Governor Pritzker, we encourage all Illinois citizens to participate in the political process. We are advocates for an Illinois that represents all citizens, including those with various medical conditions that preclude them from COVID vaccination, unlike the Governor.”
With respect, right or not, it’s an easy answer for Republicans to give. There’s room for exemptions on a campaign staff, just like other jobs.

And Pritzker doesn’t even have to run an ad on it. He should be thanking the minority leader for the assist.

As a state worker this angers me that he can’t do this for us.
Also, every story is better with “full memo from Lord”
