Heading to my first in person conference in close to two years. Not without a degree of anxiety and trepidation. Thankful that this is a smallish conference, and I will be masking and distancing throughout. Thankfully much of it is held outdoors. Thankfully I am vaxxed. I feel like I have shifted somewhat from pandemic fatigue to pandemic anxiety. Hard to not be anxious every time I leave the house here in southern IL. It’s as if most folks down here don’t even acknowledge any of the pandemic exists. Thanks Bailey et al.

..oh and the Cardinals won their 17th in a row and clinched a play-off spot, so there’s that too.

The Cardinals win streak is proof that crazy things can happen in sports, particularly baseball which plays far more games than any other.
Any fan can look at the standings in September and say “Well, if we can win the next 17 in a row….”

Why don’t people use the word “claptrap” more often? Given statements made nowadays I think it would be approriate.

I think you make a good point, and I will plan to use it more often. It is a bit of a lost/antiquated term, but conveys so much.

Maybe the Bears can get inspired by the Cards and carry over the streak to the NFL and start at least a 17 game winning streak of their own. Winning out the rest of the season–including against Rodgers–and at least one playoff game. But realistically that isn’t in the cards.

really interested to know if Cubs fans think their team could have done what the Cards are doing if they had made just a few trades. maybe the TRicketts figure they will make more money with the sell off…more to contribute to their right wing causes….and they don’t care. If I was a Cubs fan I would be angry and I would be moving off them.

Claptrap…I like it. Can’t wait to see the look on faces when I use the word. Should be fun, which I need.

If claptrap makes a comeback then hogwash can’t be far behind….

Just cancelled my first scheduled airline flight in over two years due to a covid scare on the other end.
We’re still far from outta the woods.

How about horse hockey?
And you have to shout it just like Harry Morgan.
