* The great Ray Wylie Hubbard once sang, “The days I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations, those are good days.” I’ve gotten this backward in the past because I thought I was somehow ahead of the game. Nope.
Anyway, have at it.

Truer words, never spoken. Thanks for sharing that lyric, Rich.

Ray Wylie Hubbard also once sang, “Up against the wall, redneck mother.” That feels more applicable to my life….

Ray Hubbard and Joe Ely. Quite possibly the most underrated artists ever.

These past 19 or so months kinda makes those lyrics hit real close to home, so much has been “delayed” or paused, even timelines have lost their own places.
Although all that is selfish to one thing or another, being grateful for so things and realizing how lucky I am should be a salve for so much of what is delayed or detoured. Things happen when they do, but it doesn’t mean I need to forget what’s so great today. Thanks for sharing and making me think, Rich.
Gotta feel for the Cardinals. Tough way for a season to end.
To the baseball of it all… expectations and hope…
Tip my cap to the Cards and you Cardinals fans.
Playoff baseball, all the drama, one game elimination, last night had it all.
MLB, on the other hand, must be happy; Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta… good big markets for playoff baseball ratings.
Good luck to the Sox taking on the “cheating” Astros.
Enjoy the ride, baseball equally warms and breaks the heart.

Chicago Sky advance to the WNBA finals!
Chicago wins WNBA and NBA finals this year? And White Sox win?

Mother Blues. A fine semi-autobiographical song about RWH himself, a legend who should be better known. Everyone should go take a listen.

Wrote it, actually. Jerry Jeff just covered it. Here’s Ray telling the “story” of writing it…
