* I wasn’t feeling well all day yesterday, but I toughed it out and that was probably a mistake and I went to bed last night convinced I’d be taking a sick day today. But I woke up feeling not half bad, so let’s see how it goes.

Nice to see that of all our IL congressional leaders Adam Kinzinger was the only Republican to hold Steve Bannon in contempt.

I know it’s very early in the season, but I’m liking the NHL standings so far: Blues, undefeated; Blackhawks, winless.

This is a great project [banned punctuation]. I look forward to exploring and learning more about ISP’s history.

I agree with Walker.
Shut down comments on blog this morning for weekend and get your rest.
Given all that must get done next week at the Capitol, you’ll need to be 100%+!

Looks like they still need to fix that language unless they really think it is a great idea to suggest that a black man in the 1940s was ignorant of systemic racism.

Rich, you ought to take a three-day weekend. Get some R&R, and we’ll see you Monday.

Glad you’re feeling better today Rich. It’s more important than before to rest and heal, due to the pandemic.

SJ-R has this story on paywall (which means it will probably be in Sunday’s print paper), but a downtown ice skating rink is now being planned for the Old State Capitol lawn. I originally was scratching my head over this until I caught enough of the story (before being blocked from reading the rest) where it said that there was evidence that ice skating existed at that site as far back as 1866:

Happy you’re feeling better. Good night’s sleep makes a difference.
Beautiful Fall Day, appropriately cool.

“a downtown ice skating rink is now being planned for the Old State Capitol lawn.” That’s intriguing. They had one at Union Station for a couple winters until they got pre-empted by construction of the ALPLM. It was a jewel, and highly popular. I’d love to see something like that again.

What about have the rink at Y Block 1.0 instead of the OSC?
(Y Block 1.0 is my nickname for the infamous old YWCA block north of the Governor’s mansion; Y Block 2.0 is the site of the recently-demolished YMCA that Dana-Thomas House is eventually going to use).
