And…
The House Redistricting Committee on Wednesday released an updated version of the proposed congressional map that accounts for public feedback while improving minority influence.
“I am extraordinarily proud of the passion and dedication that has been present throughout this redistricting process,” said Rep. Lisa Hernandez, Chair of the House Redistricting Committee. “I want to thank my colleagues on the bipartisan redistricting committee, as well as the members of the public, advocacy groups and grassroots organizations that have helped provide the crucial testimony needed to ensure we have diverse representation in Washington. I am confident these proposed congressional boundaries will maintain our status as a leader in the nation for minority representation.”

I just love the Rockford, Quad Cities, Peoria, Bloomington district, especially the way it reaches into Peoria and Bloomington oh so sneakily like a 5 year old stealing a bit of candy and running away.
And that metaphor of the map makes acting like 5 year olds is also appropriate. If they want to win more elections why can’t they just rely on having better ideas?

Nothing like the morning coffee in Quincy then heading to Danville for the Kiwanis Chicken Dinner at the VFW. All in a day’s work.
Aaron Schock is jealous that’s not his Congressional District for the mileage reimbursements alone.

complain all you want downstaters, there’s plenty of people in Chicago and elsewhere upstate who are in a quandary about this map so it’s not just all about you. it moves lots of pieces around.

Stay tuned for a new rash of erroneous analyses that Rich will have to smack down. Reaching for the popcorn.

Does this latest version of the map help Congressman Bill Foster in IL-11?
According to Illinois Elections Data, looks negligible, and the new IL-11 appears to be competitive in spite of Trump numbers in both 2020 and 2016.
Look at Pritzker 2018 and Duckworth 2016.
An anti-Trump Republican could compete against Foster in 2022 General. Is there a Republican who meets that criteria to run in IL-11?

Heh I forgot Exclamation points were auto-banned (I think).
This is a fun one. I’m in district A, but if I leave my neighborhood - literally - I’m in district B.

Quigley’s seat now goes from Lake Zurich to River North. Quite the seat.

This map seems to make Foster really vulnerable if there is a legitimate non-Oberweis type challenger.

=== This map seems to make Foster really vulnerable if there is a legitimate non-Oberweis type challenger. ===
Jim Oberweis was moved from IL-11 back to IL-14 on this Wednesday night draft, opposed to Saturday’s draft.
Bill Foster’s IL-11 gained some of eastern Aurora in Kane County from IL-14. Foster gained all of IL-08 in McHenry County from Raja Krishnamoorthi’s IL-08.
Lauren Underwood IL-14 was given more of Will County, south of Joliet in return for helping Foster.

Have you seen the “ideas” that the right wing are falling for hook line and sinker? The GOP isn’t making any effort to produce policy that would create anything resembling good governance and almost the entire Republican caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives is involved in covering up a blatant coup attempt.
It’s not a “battle of ideas” when the candidate who lost the election incites a mob to attack the United States Capitol Building. We don’t have time to reason with horse dewormer chomping fascists and save our species and our way of life from climate change.

The ILGOP has zero statewide office.
Talk about not having better ideas…

Sounds like purity to your party is more important than winning? That’s a sure fire recipe to leave yourself on the outside looking in. It also requires you to surrender arguments that the ideas of your party are better for the majority of voters.

LOL, and “there it is”
You know a political party isn’t a cult or religion… right?
See, I can agree with 80% of policy, but I won’t agree with racists, insurrectionists, conspiracy theorists who are tearing down democracy.
I was bedrock, slam dunk, GOP count on voter.
Trump ruined so much, Rauner set the table here in Illinois for the dismantling.
Don Tracy supporting racist thinkers, insurrectionists, and conspiracy theorists and wanting them in the party? “No thanks”
But, I’ll keep fighting to get the party back. You don’t like that it seems.
