* A good idea for today is to click here to donate to LSSI and then come up with something pithy to say in comments.

While I happen to donate regularly to LSSI through my Lutheran congregation, I just responded to your donation request as well. So appreciate your advocacy!

After meeting the requirements to be pithy, I would just say: Blessed are the caregivers who care for the children and a big thank you to the journalists who care for the truth.

There’s a Belgian death metal band named Omicron. They’re not changing their name.

Dear Winner Winner, I am flummoxed why you would suggest I can’t have it both ways or am contradicting myself. Rich deleted by post but I am uncertain why.
I merely pointed out an increase in Covid cases were expected after one of the busiest travel weeks of the year; Thanksgiving. Not much social distancing opportunities on planes. I mentioned the things we are commonly and repeated told to reduce transmission. Then I mentioned it is also best practise to wipe down commonly touched items, like door handles.
Viruses remain viable and can live on surfaces for hours depending upon the surface, humidity, temperature and light. So when we put our hand on a door knob we may get virus on it. Then later rub an eye. The eyes and tear ducts are common routes for invasive virus. Because the eye or tear ducts itself does not display a sign of infection lay people do not think of it as a transmission route but they are.

There is a lot of need out there. Do your best.

To those of you responsible for loved ones in group facilities( assisted living, etc), call and ask the director their positive case count. You may not have been notified that there were COVID cases in the building. I found out today something that I should have been told over a week ago. Also if they respond with positive cases counts, ask if they are closed to visitors yet,

As Banish Misfortune said at 10:17 “There is a lot of need out there. Do your best.” Remember to check your names and your favorite charities names on the Illinois State Treasurer’s unclaimed property website. I found listings for LSSI a year or two ago, and personal money for other people. Let the organizations know what you find, and maybe you can find something to donate as well. It may take awhile, but why let good money sit with the State?
