* Another normal day…
* I asked the Steve Kim campaign for comment…
Mike Madigan’s record of corruption in this state is indisputable, and we will be trying to reverse its effect for years to come. That’s why we need to elect reformers who will stop at nothing to fight crime, reduce taxes, and end the Madigan corruption. Frivolous law suits won’t change that, action from leaders who understand what it takes to implement change will.
Meanwhile, Kwame Raoul has yet to comment on Madigan’s indictment and the $2.5 million in Madigan Money he’s received.
AG Raoul has commented on the indictment.
By the way, DeVore admitted today that his petitions to run for attorney general aren’t ready yet.

Petitions got stuck in the Patriot Convoy coming down from Gurnee last week.

Two notes both related to Devore’s current job.
That’s pretty violent imagery for an attorney to use. If he used it with regard to any court case, the ARDC would be after him.
Second, an attorney doesn’t have his paperwork done, and he wants to be the state’s top attorney? It doesn’t seem like a difficult task and if an attorney has problems with this one, I can’t imagine what he would do faced with complex litigation and opinions that the office is supposed to produce.

“we will not relent until you are on your knees begging for mercy.”
Classy.

Well, he has to read the directions a few times to make sure he gets it right this time. There are no TROs in elections. You actually have to win for real.
Also, I’m absolutely loving the votes on HB4116 last week, with almost every republican in the house voting against it. Suddenly their health privacy concerns for the public are nowhere to be found. It’s a giant lighthouse laying bare that that was never their concern, they just hate vaccines and had to come up with something to make it sound like anything but that.

That’s gonna be really interesting. He’s got a passionate fan base, but he got a late start and he’s not the most organized and disciplined guy in the world.

So the question will be not if, but how many challenges to his petitions will be filed

A crack from the slate

I am an Illinois resident and I think I’m a good person. I do not stand with Thomas DeVore.

Here’s how the DeVore campaign plays out:
1. Announce run for office and fundraise off of it
2. Never submit adequate number of petitions to get on the ballot
3. Announce that the shadowy forces have conspired to keep him off the ballot, but he will not stop fighting against them, please donate here so Tom DeVore can keep standing up for you, the Common Clay of the New West

So, just which corrupt rules is he referring to?
The idea of the Attorney General suing the House of Representatives is interesting.
Isn’t the Attorney General the state’s attorney? Would he get to sue and defend the same lawsuit?

I got into the wrong business.

Pretty sure that’s happened before. A special AG is appointed.
But, yeah, this is goofy.

I got ten bucks that says RoadRager is exactly correct on the DeVore playbook. He’s like the PT Barnum of plague rats, and there’s an anti-vaxer born every minute.

“AG Raoul has commented on the indictment.” I got a laugh from the use of the “our law enforcement partners” terminology in the IL AG statement about Madigan’s idictment, as if the U.S. Attorneys office, the FBI, and the IRA criminal divsion agents at John Lausch’s press conference are somehow on the same playing field as Kwame’s better business bureau.
Is the IL AG website working yet? Still no search function I see.

@Payback -
Scroll down to the bottom of the homepage and you’ll find “Site Map/Search”.
But, yeah, not the most professional website I’ve ever seen.

@Roadrager (or anyone else): Anyone know about campaign finance law and able to answer this question?
If someone claims they plan on running for office, but never successfully get on the ballot, can they (1) use the fundraising to fight the ballot access issue (I think the answer is yes on this), and (2) keep the remaining money if they are denied ballot access?

DeVore’s petitions are late because he couldn’t find any typewriter mechanics to fix his machine.

He does not understand the role of AG, but he does understand fundraising (not the follow up accounting of the funds that are raised). You can buy some DeVore campaign swag ($30 hats, t-shirts, yard signs) or his girlfriend’s (client’s) new hair care line, both of which he is promoting through his Facebook page.

Considering the examples of tyranny and suffering going on in the Ukraine/Russia situation, this borders on the ridiculous. But, maybe his team only watches local news. I would decaffeinate the vitriol.

Sounds similar to the message Putin is delivering to Ukraine, very scary stuff.

Maybe after he loses the election, DeVore can be a carnival barker at the State Fair. He’s already got the snake-oil sales thing down pat, and appears to be heading for the big top while fleecing the marks.

DeVore lost me at “window lickers” referring to special needs kids. What’s he’s saying now is just for laughs I guess.
