I’m all for the comment section timestamps subtly protesting daylight savings time, by refusing to acknowledge it.

Snow forecast here in beautiful DuPage County, but just a trace that won’t last long. No need to get the snow shovel out of the garage.

It ain’t. I thought I changed the time, but it must not have taken. Will have to do it again late tonight.

For all those who yesterday talked about unpaid retiree dental bills … yesterday Comptroller Mendoza was on Jim Leach’s WMAY show (no audio clip as of yet), he specifically asked about dental bills (mentioning CapFax Blog), and she replied those bills had no “appropriation” but the current budget proposals would address that situation. Progress, not Perfection.

Our gardening orders are starting to show up. Looks like Spring has been declared ready or not.

Gotta love the Redbird onslaught yesterday. put up 15 runs in 8th inning alone, all fundamental hitting and baserunning prowess.

Lincoln is dealt another blow. Lincoln College (founded 1865) is closing at the end of the year.
https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2022/03/31/lincoln-college-illinois-close
The other institution of higher learning in Lincoln, Lincoln Christian University, announced last month they are ending in person instruction and going basically virtual learning and classes (plus partnerships with various central Illinois churches including West Side Christian in Springfield).

feels like the weather is being time looped. are we starting winter again? has the primary change to June changed the weather cycle so we all feel what it is like to knock doors in bad weather? HATE it now (banned punctuation).

March came in like a lamb and will go out like a lion.

You might be on to something, Amalia. Or we are living that old General Hospital storyline when that evil guy made it start snowing in a bid to destroy…something (the world? the town?) (I clearly didn’t really watch the show closely…yet this week in Illinois makes me keep thinking about it.)

Cheers to Mark Maxwell.
He’s been a very good reporter in Springfield and has made an impact covering the state house. I’ll miss him on the daily beat here in the Land of Lincoln, but I hope his new bosses let him cross the river on occasion.

“Our gardening orders are starting to show up.”
Seed potatoes showed up last week. Sweet potato slips are growing, almost ready to pluck and put in water to root. Tomatoes have sprouted. Planted some wrinkly and sprouted potatoes in containers, have started to leaf out.
Looks like our garden has a jump on the weather.

So when is Gov. Pritzker going to offer something similar for the rest of Illinois residents?

Sorry to see that Mark Maxwell is leaving. I wonder if that will also be the end of Capitol Connection?

Mark Maxwell is the last real journalist we have in Champaign-Urbana. Sorry to see him go, but at the same time, surprised he didn’t move on, and up, a long time ago.

Lincoln College closing is a terrible blow to Lincoln. And they have a satellite campus in Normal. I heard they need around $20mm to keep the doors open. Getting that from individuals on short notice is probably too much. I’d be burning up the phone lines with State Farm and Country Companies looking for some kind of lifeline.

In case you have not heard about it, there was an electrical fire in the Howlett Building late this afternoon:
