* Oliver Stone is directing a movie about George Bush called “W,” and Josh Brolin will be playing the embattled President.
Our Question of the Day consists of two parts. If a movie was made about Governor Blagojevich….
a) Who would you cast to play our embattled governor?
and
b) What title would you give the film?
* Let’s have some fun with this one…

I think they should pull one of those Tribbles out of the original Star Trek series to play the governor. And since sequels always do so well at the box office, they should call it “Clueless 2.”
Comment by S. Illinois Wednesday, Mar 26, 08 @ 12:19 pm
Call it Milorad, it could be a Borat-esque parody of a serbian immigrant trying and hilariously failing in his effort to be a well-coiffed slick corrupt governor

A remake of The Flim Flam Man. Only one person can portray this con artist: Rod Blagojevich.
Comment by Dale Allen Wednesday, Mar 26, 08 @ 12:46 pm
I’d go with Jim Carrey, who was great in “Dumb and Dumber”. Since they’ve already made the prequel to that movie and it was titled “Dumb and Dumberer”, the Blago movie could simply be titled “Dumbest”.

I can see already a movie made thru cheap digital video cameras that might win raving reviews as a cartoonish biography of a politician. I can see it being a cult hit. Someone should really make it.

So do you mean that after James Brolin played Ronald Reagan in that laughable movie a few years ago, we now have his SON playing George W Bush?
Gee, how much money are the Brolins paying the GOP to smear them in these movies? Whats the problem? Can’t Stone find another family to portrait GOP presidents? What’s next? Barbra Streisand as Elizabeth Dole? Get a clue!

I thought a movie had already been made — you know, the movie “Hot Rod” starring Andy Sandberg.
Anyway, since Blagojevich is clearly just as crazy as Jack Sparrow and Sweetney Todd, it appears will have to cast Johnny Depp to play Blago (plus, Depp is probably the only one crazy enough to do the role).
The title: “Green — a story of power, corruption, money and a hairbrush.”
Alternative title: “Jacka** — the final show”

Aw….come on Kevin. I didn’t think I was that far out of line. And now Vanilla Man has since used the same title….I just thought there was a more appropriate star. Besides-u said to have fun and you’ve got to admit it was funny.
Comment by S. Illinois Wednesday, Mar 26, 08 @ 5:51 pm
The star would be a much older and a little fatter version of Tom Cruise. The movie would be called:
Gov. Blagojevich and the Chicago Blackhawks
Comment by JakeCP Wednesday, Mar 26, 08 @ 5:52 pm
John Cusack is about the right age and from Illinois. He doesn’t have RB’s hair, but with a wig…. Blagojevich is good with the making you feel he’s sincere. I think Cusack could convey that.
How about “Marrying Opportunity” as a title?
Comment by Carl Nyberg Wednesday, Mar 26, 08 @ 5:53 pm

“Blago Knows Best?” a rosy portrayal of Illinois political life with a full-size Elvis cardboard cut-out acting as Blago and Judy Baar-Topinka playing June Whitley acting as Margaret. A light-hearted film the entire family can enjoy as the patient and pragmatic Margaret (Judy) spends three hours trying to explain to Rod he can’t spend more than the State takes in. Title includes a question mark like the original audio to intimate that Blago’s role top guy in the State is dubious.
Comment by Anon Wednesday, Mar 26, 08 @ 8:18 pm
“Rudy” with Blago in the lead role because…well he wants to play make-believe as a Governor is known throughout the Country.
“Rudy II” with Blago in the lead role because…well, he wants to play make-believe that someone actually asked him to run for President.
Comment by Anon Wednesday, Mar 26, 08 @ 8:35 pm
“Illinois Sky” where Blago (played by Liberace) opts for the Lucid Dream that allows him to believe he’s still in office long after he loses his last election. Tech Support (cameos by various IL GOP leaders) keep popping into the Dream, however, trying to burst his Blago’s bubble.

Steve Carell was born to play Rod Blagojevich, and in order to capture the essence, he really would not have to deviate much from his Michael Scott persona.
I envision a two Governors with Presidential ambitions on a road trip movie along the lines of Dumb and Dumber co-starring Horatio Sanz as Bill Richardson.
Comment by Establishment Republican Wednesday, Mar 26, 08 @ 9:36 pm
“Establishment Republican” has it right. The character already exists…Blago is Michael Scott. Just change the title from “The Office” to “The Governor’s Office”!
I can’t stop laughing….

I think we could go in a different direction. Make it a nature documentary, narrated by David Attenborough in that nasally English accent of his:
“The tousle–headed liarbird is a fascinating mimic; able to blend into its surroundings… whether it is a black church or farmyard or steelmill, nursing home or group of soccer moms… it blends in to become as one with its surroundings. Then, like the cunning predator it is, the liarbird captures the attention of it’s chosen prey with a dazzling display, evolved from the mating dance. Once the prey is thus dazzled and hypnotized, the Liarbird makes off with all the spoils it can carry. And off it migrates, flying many miles over and over from the far-flung areas of it’s elected territory, to it’s favorite nesting area, repeating it’s circle of life.
However, this unique species is now endangered. With massive over-exploitation of it’s native habitat, the liarbird has become a victim of its own rapacious, excessive success. And the threat from it’s predators; the low-lying weasels and sharp-eyed judiciars, is considerable. Prospects for the liarbird’s future, once bright, are now very much in doubt. Perhaps in the near future, it’s midwestern territory will no longer hear it’s distinctive squawks of nontax pledges and being for the people. Another species, the Lesser Quinn, stands ready to take over its ecological niche with a more subtle and sustainable lifestyle.
