Rodney Davis, Republican candidate for Congress in the 15th District, released the following statement after President Donald Trump announced a campaign rally to be held in Adams County on Saturday, June 25:
“I’m proud of my conservative record of working with Trump when he was in office, and I won’t shy away from it. I’m focused on winning this campaign, firing Nancy Pelosi, and re-implementing the many policy successes we had when Trump was president, like building the wall, cutting taxes, and making America energy independent again.
“As the future Chairman of House Administration, I will also be focused on investigating the security failures leading up to January 6, finding out if Speaker Pelosi had a role in those failures, and holding her sham Select Committee circus accountable.
“I would hope President Trump and Republican voters are aware of the baggage Mary Miller has, including a convicted pedophile serving as her personal driver, her rhetoric encouraging illegal immigration, her vote with the Socialist Squad to defund the military, and her close ties to an anti-Trump Super PAC. Time and again, Mary Miller has put America last in Congress.”

Rallies and endorsements are an important part of the former President’s public relations strategy and an opportunity to continue to air grievances to supporters. It serves the multiple purposes of Trump, Miller, and Bailey. But it is very much a Faustian bargain.

I think there’s still a Trump-shaped hole in the wall of the UIC Pavilion from when he skedaddled out of there in 2016. I’m surprised he’s willing to have a rally anywhere in Illinois, that welcoming committee spooked him but good.

Davis finds the overt Nazi stuff distasteful. Other than that, he’s been working hard to close the gap. That fake “moderate” and “bipartisan” schtick he cultivated when he was in a closer district won’t fly in the 15th so he has to compensate for it.

This statement might be safe for the primary which is in the very near future, but this kind of campaign message may not feel as good in the general election as the public learns more, and more, and more about the plot that Rodney Davis’ is complicit in covering up if he himself did not participate in it’s orchestration.
Rodney Davis is a coward.

I’ve been blessed to meet & know Mary Miller & her family for several years [ I couldn’t believe she ran for office a few years back - She was to nice and down to earth to survive the political enviroment…Luckly I was wrong!]…She’s first and foremost a Christian & She has and always will vote from her heart - She can not be bought by special interest….Mary is simply Heaven Sent! Rodney Davis has been bought and payed for by the unions - & who knows who else. If congress was filled w/ Mary Millers our country would Truly be Great Again! May God Bless Mary [& Trump]

So many things to rightly mock Trump, Davis and Miller for, but the constant references to an “Illinois backwater” are so self-defeating. It’s like some posters on this blog are trying to echo the GOP talking points for free.

If you ever believed Rodney Davis’ “bipartisan” image and rhetoric, can you now see that his is an empty suit, devoid of integrity? Rodney’s comments on Jan 6 are not surprising if you have been paying attention to all his efforts to cover up the Capitol complex tours that his colleague Rep. Loudermilk gave on Jan. 5 to people who were rioters on Jan. 6.
As to the Trump rally, I just hope his fans do not cause any damage to private property the way they damaged and disrespected the cemetery next to the Bloomington airport by using gravesites as a parking lot for Trump’s rally there.

Maybe Trump will get a chance to meet the little old lady in Sprout’s (a restaurant in Quincy that’s been there for years and years) who kept telling Rauner to “Stay strong, Governor. Stay strong! We love you!”
Or maybe not.
Strange that it’s in Mendon. As nearly-lifelong Quincy person (now out of town) there’s plenty of venues of Quincy that might work — the high school football field, the Quincy University soccer/athletic fields, etc. etc.
But at least folks will get a chance to see the Round Barn (and maybe even the windmill in Golden?).
Amazing that Trump is even coming anywhere close to Quincy and Mendon.
